TouchedByViolet Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I have recently been left by someone who I cared about deeply and coping has been difficult. Music has helped at times but it has also triggered all sorts of memories which flood in and make me want to cry. Rock music is my safest bet. The lyrics and instruments usually make me feel good and give me hope. Party and energy filled music often hurts me because I think of her and our times together.

GrayClouds Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 aviod snow patroll at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!! I listen to The Smiths, Morrissey never fails to make me feel good!! hahahahah nobby xx You mean: I am the son, I am the heir, Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar, I am the son and heir, Of nothing in particular You shut your mouth how can you say, I go about things the wrong way, I am human and I need to be loved, just like everybody else does, Doesn't get that toe a tapping and turn that frown upside down? .

I listen to The Smiths, Morrissey never fails to make me feel good!! hahahahah nobby xx totally. stuff like The Smiths, Joy Division, and New Order captures my coping mood perfectly. sometimes i need angry, misogynistic rap or screaming, heartbroken emo too.
Author TouchedByViolet Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 I'll try out The Smiths, I have been cycling between death cab for cutie, maroon 5, and afi. Songs are so much more moving in my shaken up state
vanilla87 Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I don't know what genre of rock you listen to exactly, so I'm just putting down anything that is break-up or healing sounding... No More Room to Breathe - There For Tomorrow Love Song Requiem - Trading Yesterday Long Gone - Chris Cornell Ft. Timbaland I Don't Wanna Be In Love - Good Charlotte I Don't Care - Apocalyptica Flowers for a Ghost - Thriving Ivory Cat and Mouse - The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus The Beauty & The Tragedy - Trading Yesterday Barely Breathe - Broken Frame Apologize - Silverstein Again - Flyleaf My Eyes Burn - Matchbook Romance All Hail the Heartbreaker - The Spill Canvas Since U Been Gone - A Day To Remember
Disintegration Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I find that if I listen to The Smiths I tend to cry even more. Got through some tough times though while listening to them.
GrayClouds Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Slobberbone: Gimme Back My Dog: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N42hmh8IYiU Gimme back my dog It was mine before I'd see you It was mine before I believed you When you said 'I need you' It seems that you were just throwin' me a bone And it was mine before you found me It was mine before you'd hound me And bound me, then ground me, and pound me Like a stray dog with no way home Oh, just like a dirty stray dog with no way home So come on girl, you gotta give me some credit It was mine before you'd go get it And pet it, and let it run When you threw the damn thing its ball And it was mine before you lost me It was mine before you'd try me Lie to me, and try to deny me That you ever loved me at all Yeah so Gimme back my dog it is really not about a dog...but talk about a RUFF break-up!
kwyser Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I usually listen to sad love songs at first to do a little bit of self-pity, haha. Then I'll switch to happy music that just makes me feel good. This changes with every person. For me it dance music and just that relaxed "feel-good" music, if anyone knows what I mean.
Sharla Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I wouldn't say its my fav but I def can relate to the words at times:
vanilla87 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Maybe for any of the girls/women on here, try the song by Great Northern and the song "Houses" or you can try the new song by Allison Iraheta and the song is called "Still Breathing". The lyrics of the first verse and chorus start out like this: "I need an aspirin after you Until you left I never knew What my heart was really going through And I never wanna go back But if there's some sick twist of fate I would rather in rest peace Please do not resuscitate I'm still breathing Don't you think I'm not because you're leaving Never gonna see me grieving I'm moving up and away Not crying Funny, I'm not even trying Never gonna lay down I'm breathing much better The air is much clearer, over you" Then for the guys, I'd say put on songs like "Happens All the Time" by Cold or "Break Down" by Seether and that song starts out like this: "The sun is gone and the flowers rot Words are spaces between us And i should've been drown in the rivers i've found of token lost And i should've been down when you made me insecure So break me down if it makes you feel right And hate me now if it keeps you alright You can break me down if it takes all your might 'cause i'm so much more than meets the eye"
XKatieX Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Whenever I am stressed about anything, joe satriani songs really soothe my soul. ~flying in a blue dream is one of my favs.
Ilovecake Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 My whole life revolves around music. When I first broke up with my bf I couldn't listen to anything because it all reminded me of him. I've just recently started listening to music again but had to find all brand new stuff that was completely separate from him. That's the beauty of the internet, you can just go on MySpace or other websites and randomly listen to stuff you never heard of before.
sedgwick Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Ani DiFranco's "Dilate" is the best breakup album EVER!! Oh, and Nob, I soooo love the Moz! "I wear black on the outside because black is how I feel on the inside."
Satisfaction Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I listen to music but now most songs remind me of something because I've stopped listening to new music. I tend to walk, walk for as long as possible looking at people's window boxes and glimpsing their lives through open windows and doors left ajar. I walk till my body hurts more than my soul. I used to exercise as well but that's a really quick way to give yourself a bad injury!
counterman Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 My favourite coping music are sad love songs.
GrayClouds Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Whenever I am stressed about anything, joe satriani songs really soothe my soul. ~flying in a blue dream is one of my favs. I liked the cold play version better...
jerrytodd Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 24 years ago it was What Difference Does It Make by The Smiths (Yes, I am really, really old - I even saw them live for the Queen is Dead tour). And now, in 2010, yes it is still the same damned song. I need to move on in more ways than just my relationship!! "I would leap in front of a flying bullet for you..."
Bulldozed Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I'll try out The Smiths, I have been cycling between death cab for cutie, maroon 5, and afi. Songs are so much more moving in my shaken up state Not knowing your circumstances, I give this one a good recommendation. Also, Puke by Eminem. My apropos for my circumstances. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXHKaJ1D6nI
