Not really sure what the point of this thread is. But anyway, today I had to visit the city in which my ex and I fell in love and began dating before the whole long distance/drama stage. I will admit it was really hard at times, everywhere (and I MEAN EVERYWHERE) I drove I looked out the window and saw some building, some store, some restaurant, some street corner where we had a memory together.

But I think I also realized today that I am very much in love with the girl I dated back then but I do not love the girl that is currently my ex. She did way too much crap to me, lied, acted selfish and needy--all of which changed who she is to me. So now I'm trying to learn to live with/cherish those good memories but realize that she is no longer a good person nor is she the one for me.

It is very important that you've recognized this...and it's ok to hold onto those good memories that you've had with her...it's those experiences that make up who we are and who we will become...but at the same time, you also need to detach yourself from those memories...at least for the time being...until you no longer associate those memories, and her, with feelings of love...only then can you start moving on...

By the way, you're in DC?
