I think he is both.

I despise people who prey on the vulnerable and the grieving.

Zombie Apocalypse!!!! I'm heading to the mall, who's with me?:)

Posted (edited)

According to this guy, God tells me to raise the dead... Great, I'm bringing back Elvis, Ghengis Khan and Kathy (just a girl I once met on holiday, no particular reason, never liked her, just thought I'd better do an odd number).

Really, what an a**ehole

basic biology a 3 year old can understand:

*ahem*

when the organic brain dies and later becomes dust :p , the person is no more. memories, personnalities, ways of thinking and everything is in that brain. our minds define us, no brain---> no person

so many possible answers are running through my mind right now:

1. sarcasm. "And then she came to life ... right after I moved my foot off her breathing tube."

2. skepticism. "uh, dude, the old lady and the baby probably weren't physically dead, but 'mostly dead'" as referenced in The Princess Bride: In a suspended sense of being, and slowly came to.

3. spiritual. "When Jesus talked about raising the dead, it's ENTIRELY possible that he was was speaking of helping people to heal spiritually." Which – this being the Bible and the topic, spirituality and the work of God – is the answer I'm putting stock in.

I believe God's concern is more about our spiritual nature, more so than our corporeal nature. We're born, we die. No two ways about it. In between, though ... there's the whole relationship we have with others, including him, that need to be tended to.

back to the Bible, where the parable tells of the good shepherd chasing down the one lost little lamb, even though he's got 99 in his keep. That "lost little lamb" – the spiritually lost soul – is as important to him as the ones who are safe, if not more so, because that little lambie is vulnerable to the elements. As are we, spiritually speaking.

IMO, when Jesus talks about his followers raising the dead, I'm thinking it's more along the lines of helping them find their way back to God, because in the end, it's eternal life – not corporeal life – that matters the most.

I just see it as another example of how people can pick pretty much anything out of the Bible and use it to suit their purposes.

First off, I think one needs to believe that the Bible is the infallible word of God...if so then Jesus told His Disciples that greater are the works that we would do in His name. Jesus raised the dead and was raised from the dead.

Hey just a personal experience....my little dog got hit by a car going over 30mi per hr, she was gone...I went to go track down the person that hit her...the speed limit is 10 mi per hr ....kids play there everything...I was pissed and am glad I did not find that person. Anyway, when I was pulling back into the driveway she popped up, and she was not just knocked out, she was gone....so....

What is more likely: your dog being raised from the dead, or you making an error as to its condition because you were in a state of shock?

No, I was angry, not in a shock state.

I don't believe you.

because I asked you in another thread to give an example of all the little daily miracles you say you experience, and so far - nothing..

Yet here you are, claiming a miracle, and this is the first time you mention it?

I'm calling you out on this one.

I think you're being untruthful, just to try to provide some kind of evidence that raising the dead is possible.

A dog?

with a miraculous raising from the dead?

Gimme a break.

Don't you think that if God ever did consider raising someone from the dead before your very eyes, raising a human from the dead would be higher on his priority list than reviving a dog?

That dog got knocked out and winded.

No death occurred.

Oh, hang on.....

Unless you have a vet's certificate to substantiate what you said, because after such a massive occurrence, you must have taken him to a vet for a check-up, right?

And you told the vet what happened, right?

And the vet would also have declared that a miracle must have ocurred - right?

Right.

Hi Tara, why do you seem to be so over berring? I did not see what you asked in the miracle thread....why are you so impolite and hard to deal with? It must be terrible to feel so negative and argumentative concerning most matters...

This almost feels cruel to even explain this, although yes...you know something Tara, at that point it seemed to be just me and my dog in this world...very, very bad time...her heart was not beating and this must have lasted for at least 20 or more minutes because of the time it took to try to find the individual....as my car pulled up....my SO had her laying on the side of my house after taking her out of the street and she popped up and started walking a bit....we rushed her to the vet.

Tara, not everyone is out to get you, the way you come off sometimes is just ...there is so much abuse on this forum, and am so glad this is the internet and can turn the pc off....have a heart Tara...open up your heart, don't be so angry anymore.....

Hey, really, you have no idea how far off base you are!

I don't do anger.

I refuse to subject myself to such a destructive and explosive emotion.

It wrests control from your fingers and makes you impotent.

So I really am the least angry person you could imagine.

But I do confront. I do challenge and I do question.

Everything.

I leave no stone unturned.

Not everyone can take it as I dish it.

And as you will see, I have responded to your question, about your SO, in another thread you just posted, without any negative emotion.

Because I keep it where it is.

Here is here.

There is there.

It's just me.

And thank you for replying.

But I still don't buy it.

The probable fact was that as she was severely winded, her entire thorax went into spasm. But even if the heart stopped beating, the brain still had activity.

The heartbeat was in fact, only probably extremely faint because of the thoracic spasm.

I have known it happen.

As a dog behaviourist, I work closely with a couple of rescue centres, and several veterinary practices.

So I know these things can happen.

I don't blame you for believing your dog might have been dead, but I'm afraid I don't believe it happened.

What did your vet say about it?

Fair enough...thank you

Actually nothing....just looked at me weird....oh ok (bold)...oh wow you are an animal person....cool, anyway the vet just took her in and all I had a chance to say was that she was hit by a car and told short version of the story...Tara, she is a strong little girl...when I had heavy yard work, in the middle of summer, she stayed out there with me, watched over me during very bad times and to loose her...man.

And about your reply (in the other forum)...you don't know how much that helped, made the difference as today was not so hot of a day...lol

Your work is quite interesting, I only donate and "doctor" animals that come in my path....but you...wow...keep up the good work!

Well that's cool.

I don't deliberately rain on people's parades, and I'm sorry if I came over too harshly.

But there's no question that when somebody is so drastically affected by something like this, their perceptions are clouded by the emotional input.

You didn't just feel 'anger'. There were loads of other emotions tangled up in there too, such as horror, indignation, righteousness, concern, fear and love.

All a heady mix and cocktail for someone to cope with, whilst driving to find the idiot who hit your dog!

I only do this part-time, but I'm looking to become more involved with animals and do more as time goes on.

Thank you for coming back on this. :)

Did anyone watch Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr? The villain raised himself from the dead, by using assorted forms of mummery.

IMO, that's the only way to raise the dead.
