Few days ago, I was at the hospital ( in the nurses station) and one of the nurses asked me if I have had lunch....I said "no not yet"...she told me "oh don't order lunch". I assumed there was food available somewhere. About 20 minutes later, she came back and handed me a Mcdonald's Happy Meal...ahm....huh?

Then she said it was from this new Resident, Dr. so and so..ok..but a "Happy meal?' What is he trying to say, I asked myself...whatever....I said thank you.

In the "happy meal" bag, there was a hamburger, french fries and a toy-alvin, the chipmunk. Then the Resident came by and asked me if I got my lunch, I said yes, thank you (still with a puzzled look on my face, I am sure)..then he asked if I played the toy on. I haven't but he said to turn it on then left. So I did. The chipmunk said "hey gorgeous"! -in the alviny, squeeky voice...the nurses in the station all laughed and thought it was very cute....hmmm...ok...

This is what I thought:

1) some balls...and a Resident!

2) nip in the bud....cute maneuver but not interested.

So what do you guys think about this kind of cute but cheesy way of a pick up maneuver?

Oh my god...that's adorable! Why don't guys do that for me?

Hm it's cheesy and indirect, which I would find to be a turn off.

But it also took a bit of planning, which I would find to be a turn on.

So what it comes down to is, how cute is he?

I love McDonald's french fries, I haven't had them in like 6 years.

Actually, the more I contemplate, the more I think, WHAT FUN!!!! That's a FANTASTIC way to set the stage for lots of sexual-tension-inducing flirting. MMMMMMMMMMMM.

I actually thought he was trying to insult me indirectly, that I look like a kid since I am very petite.

That would be a ton of effort on his part (as well as the part of the nurse who helped him, is she an ******* too?) to try to insult you. He was just trying to be cute. Obviously he just did the Happy Meal thing because it was lunch AND came with a toy that would tell you how gorgeous you are....clearly he thinks you're good looking

Sounds like good flirting to me, he could have made it better by personalizing it to your tastes a bit more. Points for it not being extravagant or a real "gesture," for playfulness also. Haha on you for thinking he was comparing you to the chipmunk :lmao: I have gotten some -extremely- good results in the past with this kind of thing, just a bit more personalized.

Well, THAT thought was momentary, he couldn't possibly be insulting me-he is after, a newbie...the nurses TELL him what to do, for christsakes! I guess, I am a bit surprise at the boldness....kinda cocky, I think.

you mean, he could have asked for a TERIYAKI sauce, instead of ketchup? LOL...does Mcd even have that?

Hum.. I think he thinks you're cute... but he was probably in a playful mood..

I wouldn't take it the wrong way.. I think it was rather cute.. ;)

I agree, Lizzie, it was cute...but I didn't like that it was too public...in the nurses station? ugh...I like to separate my private life(especially, matters of the heart) from my work.

In my opinion he was just trying to make you feel better. It's a doctor's (and anyone's who is in the medical field) job to make a patient feel good. He accomplished that, even if just momentarily. You felt flattered, and probably smiled and what not.

I've done many things similar to that with no actual goal of getting anything out of it, and most certainly not a date, just because. Plus he's a doctor, and clearly somewhat charming, I'm sure he get's plenty of dates already.

No, not ethnically personalized, that would be rude! Give you an example. A woman I was casually dating (but I wanted more) a couple of years ago had a thing for a certain kind of cheap kid candy that we had both had as kids, but they didn't make any more. I did some research and found that it was still made, just very hard to find, sent her some to her house with a very flirty note, she was bowled over by the cheap kid candy. Cost me like $10 -including- shipping, but was better than any jewelry or trip I could have gotten her as far as results.

A highly personal, but very inexpensive gift early on has been in the meerkat pouch o tricks since then  I make it a point to get them talking about things they used to love as a kid that they supposedly don't make anymore (good for nostalgia factor generally also). Once I have 3-4 options, at least one of the things is still made. It's all in the bag from there and costs so little they can't think I'm buying their affection (emotionally manipulating maybe, just not buying ;))

Oh, and I disagree with others, he has a crush on you for sure, almost 100%

You know, you are probably right..but I was not a patient.

But, geez,,,right again...I am sure he gets plenty of dates!

Me too... Tami is very attractive.. so he probably has a crush on her.. and thought this would make him earn 'points' ;)

Nah I would not take it as he thinks your young. I know lots of women who buy Happy Meals because it's pretty much the perfect meal calorie wise.

I disagree it was "indirect" because he came to talk to you after doing it. He was a Dr. that gave a woman a happy meal; he had bigger potential to look like an ass than you and he still approached you anyway. I think he was being original and thoughtful..and as much as I hear my fellow woman-kind complaining that their men don't do enough romantic/spontaneous/etc. things...we should HARDLY pick apart someone who went of their way to do that.

Um, I work in the healtcare field and buying things for patients yours, or anyone else's is a big no-no and can get your ass in the boiling end of the pot. Do I really think a Dr. would risk that for a stranger? Um, no not really. I think it was obvious he likes her.

Secondly, so what if he's a Dr. and can or does get lots of dates..what is OP chopped liver? Obviously, he'd like one of those dates to be with her.

I have a question... it was one of the nurse who handed you the HM... did he get them for the other nurses as well.. or just you?

Well, true...he did come and talk to me. But he did not actually ask me out...so maybe it was just for the fun of it,,you know?
