what if we are really in love of the idea of love?

what if what we really love isn't so much the person, but more the idea of it, of having someone, and because we used to find that idea on that person, we became clingy, because we got a habit of thinking it was just that person that could make us feel that way, because we are not so used to recieve it from other person, but when we realize that we acn really recieve it from someone else we dont feel so bad for the other person?

sorry for my english, its not my mother language

This is very common in many breakups...people associate all the good feelings of love with their ex partner...so they believe that that ex was the "one" for them...their only shot at love...even when the two people were obviously incompatible or the relationship was unhealthy...

That's why it's so easy to get over someone, albeit temporarily in many cases, when you find someone new to associate feelings of love with...hence the rebound relationship...it's just a short-term band-aid to fill in the gap left by the ex...but this gap is not necessarily the ex him or herself, but someone to provide that idea of love...
