I put my (yes recent) picture as my avatar because I want YOU to see my face and know that I am here to help and get help. No more hiding behind a faceless computer. Every time I come here I sickened by the number of people reading these threads. You there reading this....I'm here to help you. Maybe I don't have any answers but I can offer support. Come out into the light and find help. There are so many nuances to your story that you are afraid that written words won't expain everything you wish to convey. Take that first step and open up...We're waiting...By helping you I help myself. I come here almost every workday to read and be helped but the number of posts don't match the number of readers. Stop lurking. I need you.

Exposing who you are simply actually makes you more vulnerable, and it's actively discouraged. Read the guidelines.

Simply revealing who you are, furthermore, doesn't actually make you any more credible, more helpful or more believable.

Many people do post their own photos. if that's what you want to do, that's fine. but there have been threads requesting moderators delete information, and people complaining their ex found them due to indiscreet posting.

You're welcome to post your photo. It's nice to see you. I have no doubt your intentions are both selfless and honourable....But it neither adds, nor detracts from your contribution - nor anybody else's, for that matter.

be well.

I'm just trying to encourage people to post, open up and get help. A face...that's all it is. I'm not looking to be creditable or complimented or anything else. Sorry if this is "wrong". Sometimes I just want a face to talk to. If more of you think it's wrong I'll take it down. I certainally don't want my face to hinder someone. :D

The problem/caution, is that the person it will most 'hinder' - is you.

It compromises your own privacy, and exposes you as a known person.

Please know that there are some pretty warped tecchies out there who can phukk with your mind by ruining your life via your computer

Why take that risk?

Why expose yourself unnecessarily?

Simon, the body's mine, but I used a relative unknown as a face-double.....;):D

Ok sorry bad idea I get it. All fixed I hope?

you could post an avatar pic of your feet in high heels..... but that might attract the fetish-guy....!

Really, I promise, no criticism was intended, truly.

But we've seen a lot of posts round here as a result of indiscreet words and pic's.

Honestly hun, I was just looking out for you.

Truly. :o

I think sometimes though, an avatar picture can say more about you than a self-portrait photo can....

I mean, ask those who know me...

I kick ass, but I try to do it in a good way.....

As for Simon's....

search me.....:confused::D

No hurt feelings. Tara, I truly appreciate you looking out for me. I'm too naive for my own good sometimes. T

Well, okay....just for this week I'll use my own pic. It's not my best, I was having a bad hair day, but it's all me!!:D:D

Terry I wouldn't worry about it! I use my pic and I've never had a problem. I don't have anything to hide even if there was someone on here that I knew..I'm an open book! I find your story VERY inspiring and you give me lots of hope in my situation! thanks.

It's a good thing that your eyes are'nt brown and then you lost one because then they'd call you ol' brown eye.
