scubaskunk Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 I don't know if I am the only person who has noticed the "lower back dimples" before, some call them the "dimples of Venus." The only question I have is how can I get them? Are they genetic??I am 5'5 132 lbs, more muscle than fat. I work out my lower back but is there any specific workouts that you know that have worked?? Next question is about Creatine. I wanna get mass but I don't know how to go about doing it. I heard if you eat A LOT of protein, and work it out into muscle you wil get it. But i ask.....what is the problem with just taking creatine??Have you heard of any bad sideeffects from it?? thanks for the help!
yogi-mon Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 hey man, I will get slack from this, because there are some real creatine haters here. But, if you try this: Eat a half serving of creatine with a small amount of the protien shake, then goto the gym. Mix together some gatorade and the other half serving of creatine. Drink this while you work out. make sure you break a sweat. I recommend doing less reps, with more weight. Max out your weight, but do less reps. 1 set x 10 reps at low weight 1 set x 8 reps at medium weight 1 set x 6 reps at heavy weight 1 set x 3 reps at more weight then you can *get a spot* weight 1 set x 10 reps at low weight - this will lean you out. I would do 2 muscle groups each day, 3 exercises for each muscle group. workout week consists of 1 day cardio. back and triceps. 1 day cardio. chest and biceps. 1 day cardio. shoulders and legs. 1 day cardio. lowerback and abs. Then, after you work out, go directly to a restaurant / home within 30 minutes and eat a large amount of protene based foods. Such as chicken, steak, eggs*, etc. Make sure you have big servings. For your other meals in the day stick to yogurt, fruit, vegtables etc. This will both build muscles and lean you out at the same time. Top this off with alot of sleep and you will notice a huge difference in definition and workout progress
CostumeSmile Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 I don't know if I am the only person who has noticed the "lower back dimples" before, some call them the "dimples of Venus." The only question I have is how can I get them? My daughter is 8 yrs. old and she was born with them, I don't think there is anything you can "do" to get them.
moimeme Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 I've got them. Doesn't everybody? Yeesh. I guess I have to look at lots more naked people LOL. This is what I get for not hanging out in gyms.
cdn Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 Back dimples? What are these? As to the rest of your post: Eat (or drink) carbs prior to your workout and a high-protein meal immediately after. If the dimples are some sort of fat deposit or cellulite, you may want to try reducing the amount of fat in your diet. Assuming you are female, you could probably lose 5 pounds or so and that will also help.
moimeme Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 They're not fat at all. They're dints a couple of inches either side of the spine roughly where the hips begin. The two dimples in most everyone's back (historically known as the "dimples of Venus") are where the sacrum joins the hipbones, called the sacroiliac joint. http://www.back.com/anatomy.html
CostumeSmile Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 "Back dimples" are natural not caused by fat or anthing else. They are kind of like the dimples on the face, not everyone has them. I love them on my daughter I think they are sooooo cute. My daughter has the cutest dimples on her cheeks when she smiles too, I have neither. I know more people who don't have them than those that do but I think they are very cute.
cdn Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 Thanks, Costume! No offense meant by my questions (and hoping none was taken). Off to look at my back in the mirror....
