Pink Cupcakes Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 (edited) Great! About the dress - of course it should be appropriate for a school setting but make it cute! Just do your makeup. At our school, teachers can wear jeans so if you do that, wear your cutest jeans and cute top or sweater. If you opt for a skirt, do that. Look cute and pulled together, and do your makeup to your best advantage. I would smile but don't make it obvious you have your "sights set on him" like the substitute teacher, because if others can tell this, the guy knows, because his teacher friends are joking with him or telling him "hey, that substitute has her eye on you." That might be a turnoff for him if everyone knows and expects him to ask her out since she has been obvious with her intentions. so don't be her and make it obvious, play it cool but not "too cool". and the advice I said. Oh and you don't just have to show interest in his teaching, his other interests, too. For example, if he brings up his interest in camping or fly fishing (huge around this area so tons of guys, teachers included, are into this), ask him where he goes fishing, even if you couldn't care less about fishing, what streams he fishes, or whatever. If he has an obvious interest in a sports team, chat him up a bit about that after you've started talking.... Edited January 16, 2010 by Pink Cupcakes

Author OnlyJake Posted January 16, 2010 Author Posted January 16, 2010 I'm going out to dinner tonight with some friends; then I'm going to be seeing the guy who brought another girl on our second date later. A mutual friend is having a going-away get-together at a bar, and we're both going. It's not a date, but I'm curious to see what, if anything, happens.
Author OnlyJake Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 Condom Guy called me for a date, so we'll be going out this week. He seems really cool, but the way he looks makes me think "band member" LoL. He looks like a bassist or something. I'm really hoping to see Teacher this week, though, so I can make some moves!
GAchasen Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Go with the trooper.. You can't go wrong with a guy that has his own pair of handcuffs I couldn't agree more with this statement.
Author OnlyJake Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 the guy who brought another girl on our 2nd date: still really like him! Yesterday he sent me a text that simply said "I'm making it up to you tonight, wear something comfy. I'll see you at 7." He sent a car for me that brought me to his house, where he was making dinner. We had a picnic in his living room, and he remembered what my favorite wine was and had that as well. It was a really good date. Apparently he called my bff and asked her if I was up to anything or had anything that I had wanted to do last night. Still kind of presumptuous of him, but I do like that he took charge, especially given the circumstances of our previous dates. Condom Guy: We have a date set up for tomorrow; we're getting appetizers and drinks Still nothing new about the teacher! I haven't seen him this week...

sagetalk Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Got the education covered, I have a BA and an MAT Part of my problem with my appearance at school actually does come down to finding the line between looking good and appropriate, but not "hot." Why would you not want to look hot. Typing the words just makes me sad .
Author OnlyJake Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 Why would you not want to look hot. Typing the words just makes me sad . It's really bad to be a young woman above the age of 18 in a school and look "hot". Not only is it very unprofessional and looked down upon, but it causes all kinds of problems. Being a young woman 18+ in the school and NOT looking hot causes problems too...but at least if you don't make an effort to look hot no one can say you were asking for it or dressing inappropriately or anything.

I know, I was just messing with you. I went out with one girl who was a teacher and she said how many women at the school didn't like her. She was very attractive and I can imagine it would be difficult for her to wear anything that would make her look anything other than hot. BTW she isn't a teacher anymore, she got so sick of them and quit.

BTW she isn't a teacher anymore, she got so sick of them and quit. The school environment created by other teachers is very important, for sure. I had a hard time at the school I student taught at; I love the school I'm at now, there are a lot of young teachers, and the majority don't have issues with their looks and weight and social class that often (IME) cause them to be bitter and have issues with other teachers.
Author OnlyJake Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 He's a very intelligent guy Take notes
meerkat stew Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 My vote is for you to stay single so you can play with us here on the net! We would never think of bringing another female poster along on our virtual ceviche-smirnoff dates
1000 Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 LoL yeah, so? I consider having condoms in the house similar to the idea of keeping a fire extinguisher in the house. Even though you may not use it, it's probably a good idea to have one around. Just in case. I'm like a boy scout, always prepared. Minus the boy part. Oh mi god you're using a fire extinguisher? Girl it's time to start dating a real live flesh and blood man even if he's not perfect. Get back in the game! (By the way what size condom fits around a fire extinguisher?)
Mr White Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 If I were a girl, I'd go with the state trooper. What are you complaining about again?
Author OnlyJake Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 What are you complaining about again? ......
Author OnlyJake Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 Well, if you were at the store buying more condoms, you can't be doing TOO bad Na, I threw away the leftovers of an open box from my last R months and months ago. Now that I'm dating again might as well have them around....and I'd hate for a guy to get the wrong impression if he saw an open box  I do feel like I haven't met or been successful with very many men that I'm actually interested in and attracted to lately. That might be just b/c it's different ....transitioning from college-type dating to "real" dating.
Satisfaction Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 (edited) I think the teacher guy showed the most promise! You could just try seeing if you could end up in the same places as him and try and talk to him. See if he does the same. Failing that the guy with handcuffs? p.s. falling for someone you only been talking to for a few weeks is not fun because anything can happen in those early stages but luckily doesn't happen very often! I know, I want to try to get to know the teacher better, but I don't ever know if I'm going to see him! I haven't seen him in awhile. I really wish that I was interested in the trooper, but I'm just not! He's skinny, and he's a little bit shorter than I am. His hair is thinning and he has a bald spot. His face is just meh. His voice is nasal and whiny sounding. None of that would really be a turn off, except that his personality is as weak as his physical appearance.

Maybe he is on leave or transfer or so? Ah, I figured you weren't interested in the trooper he sounds dull even from the description! What about dating on the net? Or are guys as crap there as they are where you are?
Author OnlyJake Posted January 23, 2010 Author Posted January 23, 2010 I've eliminated the trooperthe guy from hscondom guythe friend of a friend/photographerthe guy who brought another girl on our second date from my dating pool and potential dating pool. Last night I saw the teacher at a Big Lebowski party I went to; he was pretty cozy with the substitute teacher, who was also there, so I've also eliminated him as a possibility. My prospects are now zero. I hope I meet a sexy foreigner when I go to Europe in a couple months. Maybe I'll come back to LS with a P.S. I Love You, or Under the Tuscan Sun type story.
