Do you always follow everything the government says? Do you let anyone else rule you by fear or just the government?

This last part is just plain funny.

Yes - everything you and your future partner do will be done with harmony and bliss - because you "discussed it" ROFL

And you wouldn't have to break up if you just accept people for who they are and realize that your way is not the ONLY way.

Can you stop caring about what random people on the internet think?

I'm sure there is SOMETHING that is a deal breaker for you and not for someone else. We're all different, this is a free country, we can all have our opinions.

If your girl/wife will accept your weed smoking habit then why do you care that other girls don't? some girls don't like blonde haired guys, some girls love them and the rest could care less.

You're not going to change anyone's mind, just like they're not going to change yours. Drop this subject or make your own thread about weed.

Damn!

And what if this man smokes? What if he smokes herb? What if he snores or picks his teeth?

Another quality that i love in a man is being able to accept other people's opinions and taking "no" for an answer.

if "weed" was TRULY not a "bad habit" i wouldnt mind it. however i know many people who smoke weed and im sorry but i dont see all these 'amazing things" that weed makes you do, as you describe here.

if it's true that your business is successful because of weed, then you are the very rare exception, not the rule.

for your info..drugs ruined the life of someone very close to me, so no wya in hell i will ever accept them. get over it. move on...i call a spade exactly what it is, a spade.

And then he ruins it all by lighting up a joint and having deep conversation with you.

Not at all.. although I don't smoke, drink or take any kind of drugs.. if he smokes a joint once a day or something..and has everything on my 'wish list' then he's ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

butt.. on the other hand.. if he has a small pee-pee... :(

Finally a mature woman who REALLY understands what she wants.

Most of the other little girlies that posted here think they know what they want, but are really clueless.

Once they get over their immature and one sided views, maybe some of the other women who posted on this thread will actually find a man with the qualities they want.

Whooaaaa... I say I wouldn't mind a joint ..but if he lights one every 10 minutes.. he's out the door...

same with picking his teeth... in my 'wish list' I had 'manners'... I don't want a 'hillbilly'... ;)

Its weird how all of these women who value important traits only seem to exist on the Internet.

ahahha that is so true!!!!

Women act on emotion, they think they want a nice confident guy and when they find one they say there is no chemistry.

Its true they do like confident guy and most confident guys are jerks.

What do you call a controlling, simple minded woman who thinks they know it all? "Ilovehim" .

Anyone with a screen name like that has got to be clueless. I love him! Did you write that all over your trapper-keeper too? :bunny:

can you stop getting sensitive? this is a forum and you asked me a question which if you haven't noticed i haven't even answered yet. all i'm trying to get across to you is that people have their own opinions.

im a psychology major and i have been around people who smoke weed too long so you dont need to tell me what marijuana and other drugs do to the mind.

ps: i have yet to find someone who has all the qualities i described AND be a pothead...when i find him then maybe i'll think about it

To sum this post up:

I can be the greatest husband or boyfriend. I can be a great provider, listener and lover. I can be a good father and family man.

However, all of this means nothing if you decide to toke a joint on a Sunday afternoon.

All people who smoke weed are bad people, they are unmotivated, criminals and undeserving of your affection.

Just want to make sure I have it right.

No.. no... no... a toke on Sunday afternoon is nothing.... hundreds of tokes every day are not good... that's the difference...

I don't know why you're not seeing this.. :o

Posted

most people won't smoke weed "once in a blue"..most people who do weed become addicted to it. ..and THAT is what becomes a problem!

Posted

ps: i have yet to find someone who has all the qualities i described AND be a pothead...when i find him then maybe i'll think about it

I second that.

Incidentally, I'm casually dating a guy who, so far, has everything on the checklist... He's confident, attractive, successful in his field, has a great sense of humor, very intelligent... and has a zero-tolerance policy toward smoking and substance abuse (which includes alcohol and other drugs).

So, they are out there... but of course, we're immature and narrow-minded for wanting to wait for the right guy that has everything on the checklist instead of settling.

*Rolls eyes*

Pot meet kettle. It's not very mature nor open-minded to judge what other people's standards are to choose a mate. I can tell you one thing, ShamWoW... arrogance and belittling are not on many women's lists for what they want from a guy... regardless of whether you smoke, or not.

Most women who try to control you don't try to control you "once in a while..." You'll soon find them bitching about every detail of your existence .

and maybe WITH reasons...;)

Posted
This is because you have already built up a pre-conceived idea of someone who smokes pot in your mind. Being a psychology major, I suspect you should know this already. You've already been conditioned to think what you do, whether it be consciously or subconsciously.

Perhaps you should study sociology more too, because you will find some answers there.

What really gets me is this "group think" mentality that people have about weed. If I go out for drinks once a week does that make me everything bad that comes along with alcohol? An alcoholic woman beater? I think not. But for some reason if I smoke a joint here and there I am everything that is bad about smoking weed. The sheer number of people who tell you how bad weed is while chugging down a beer is simply amazing?

So what detrimental effects of long term pot use have you studied and documented? None. It simply hasn't been studied in depth. We know more about Oxycodone that we do a natural plant that has been here longer than us.

Weed has never killed anyone, and no detrimental side effects have ever been studied without any study that has different findings. Period.

I am not judging you. I'm simply saying that if someone is a pothead or an alcoholic, i would not like to date them.

now let's break this down. if you are in a relationship with a girl who drinks everyday, comes home from the club at 4 in the morning and wants to pick a fight everyday, you mean to tell me that you wouldn't mind? would you think "oh that's who she is, i will support her." i don't think so.

now if a girl is drinking with you on a weekend or an occasion, you wouldn't mind.

i have had bad encounters with people who smoke weed so im sorry if to me the idea of being around that is not very appealing. no, i dont think weed smokers are bad people but it is a bad habit IF it becomes a habit which in most cases it does, because it is addicting.

the thread asks what IMPRESSES you in a man?

i am not going to write 'smoking weed", "drinking alcohol" "being rude" etc, etc...

if you're not addicted to weed and do it "once in a blue" and it has no side effects then i don't see the problem but i think we both know that is not how it goes.

This guy sounds like the life of the party.

What is all of this "dealbreaker" and zero tolerance policy GARBAGE?

I mean are you trying to date or run a country here? These terms get thrown around way too loosely.

You know what a deal breaker is? Finding out your girlfriend used to swing from the pole down at the local whore house... finding out the other person is cheating... finding out your boyfriend spends all of his money down at the casino every week...

Those kinds of things should be "deal breakers".. not some petty garbage that involves controlling everything they do.

My next girlfriend is gonna have her own life and I will have mine. We will meet someone in the middle because that is how a relationship works. And she'll love me for everything that I am and do for her. I could care less if she smokes or not.

Whoooaaa... STOP IT or you'll go to MY ROOM NOW!!!!!

Just what ever real man needs. Another MOM. :D

Yep.. and I think you need a good spanking... (I have just the right whip for that)...

Chiverly impresses me because it's so rare.

Funny... If I found out the love of my life used to be a stripper to pay his way thru college or something, I wouldn't care. I might even forgive cheating if he fessed up before I found out and committed to fixing the damage. Dealbreakers vary from person to person. Who are you to say what "should" be a deal breaker or not? When did your values become the standard everyone must follow?

Having standards does NOT equal controlling the person you are with. It is about wanting to find someone that shares the values that you consider important. To me, smoking is one of those things because of the reasons I explained. I would never ask a guy to change who he is, but I would never become involved with him in the first place if he was a smoker.

One thing is for sure... the man I end up spending my life with will have respect for my opinions and will know how to agree to disagree without being disrespectful or belittling me. THAT is a deal breaker for me as well.

So you would date a guy who was involved in all of that but not one who smokes herb? And this is why I will never understand the rationality of women.

Oh hell no. I would request he goes and gets tested for every STD under the sun before we became intimate. If he confessed after we had already had sex, I would be majorly angry for hiding it from me... But I would understand why someone would hide this. I mean, there is some major social ostracism to be had because of it.

If I knew about these things before becoming involved with the person, I may still go ahead with it anyway. It would depend on who he is today. If he used to be a prostitute and drug addict and he somehow got himself cleaned up and paid his way through college doing that, and has a decent job and lifestyle now... well, so be it.

What matters to me is who he is today. If I can love the guy he is now, I have to accept how he became that person to begin with. The road isn't always pretty.

Girls, what impresses you in a man?

passion for life ( work, family)

decisiveness

good sense of humor

courage

passion for herb (mary jane, ganja, weed)

hmm...ok..

So would you date Dave Matthews? He's another loser-stoner undeserving of your affection.

What's the obsession with this guy? Is he your model of successful & attractive pothead, which is why you keep asking if we'd date him? If so, the answer is no, I wouldn't :p

Whatever. The point I am trying to make is that these "dealbreakers" are just pathetic. It isn't about weed, I am just using that as an example. It could be any number of things - smoking cigarettes, his laugh, whatever. So don't come in here acting like you just want a good man with x number of traits because we all know there is ore to it than that.

What I am posting is very on topic.

Yes, women want all of these traits, and as soon as they find a man with them, they bend over backwards nit-picking at the pettiest thing they can find.

I'm really starting to get that you have something against women for some reason. I don't know your personal history, but I'm just getting the bitter vibe from you. Sorry for getting off topic, but I'm just making an observation.

Hum... I get the feeling you're a very angry guy.

You remind me of my son... he smokes weed from the second he opens his eyes in the morning.. and I just can't have a decent conversation with him... as soon as I disagree with him... gosh.. he gets mad ... bitter, angry.. his arguments don't make sense.. it's insane..

So .. tell me weed is harmless when taken in astonomical quantity..
