moimeme Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Do not take drugs. Do not follow 'diets'. Eat foods that are not loaded with fat. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables of every colour and whole grains. Do NOT skip carbs. They are what runs your brain. Drink lots of water. Exercise. Above is the magic solution to losing weight. Keep it secret!!!!!!
Tony T Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Don't get hooked on diet medications. If you do, you will have to take them all the days of your life...and increase the dosage....in order to keep your weight down. Eat sensibly, exercise, and remember you gain one pound for every 3500 calories you consume and you lose one pound for every 3500 calories you burn...simple as that. Do the arithmetic, watch your diet, and construct a lifetime strategy for healthy eating that will help you lose what you need to and then maintain your weight. Diet medications can be helpful for some but they are a crux for people who have no willpower and they can also be very dangerous for some people. If you're really having a hard time losing weight, see a medical professional for advice and ongoing monitoring of your progress. Forget the Dexatrim...and all other medications. They won't do you good in the long run.
Author babygurl_152003 Posted December 28, 2003 Author Posted December 28, 2003 Oh I'm not really wanting a diet pill like I'm not wanting to take it to lose weight just for energy I've took some other differant kinds before. So I was just wanting to know alittle about it. Soo Does anybody know anything about it?
moimeme Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 The only pills you should take for energy are vitamins. Really, your best bet is to see your physician. If you tire easily, this might be caused by a medical condition that needs treatment. It is a mistake to treat yourself with over-the-counter meds. You can do yourself a great deal of harm with that kind of stuff.
Author babygurl_152003 Posted December 28, 2003 Author Posted December 28, 2003 Well I take prenatal vitamiams , vitamen E , and chronium however thats spelled.
AllyKat Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 I would not start the route of Dexitrim. When you go off it, there comes the weight again! Have you tried to change what you eat? Maybe try the atkins diet? Yes, some weight may come off, but its not healthy to use these pills. Read the precautions on the back? Did you know you can have seizures from using them? I used a diet pill once along with prenatal pills. To lose weight, I had a seizure. Im not saying it was from this mixture, but I do know it happened while using them. I strongly suggest not doing that to your body.

AllyKat Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Never take these pills if you are pregnant!
HokeyReligions Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 That's my question too. Are you pregnant? If you are not -- why are you taking prenatal vitamins? I used the old Dexitrim many years ago. It helped some, but drinking coffee does the same thing -- gives you a jolt of caffine, its not real energy. They only way to increase your energy is to force yourself to do daily exercises. It doesn't matter if they are strenous -- just some regular physical activity to increase your metabolism and get oxygen to your muscles. If you are really out of shape and tire very easily - do three minutes a day for a week then increase to five minutes a day and add another minute to your routine every fourth day. You can sit on your couch and do upper body exercises just using your arms and torso for the first minute or two then stand and do some stretching exercises. Get an exercise tape and work out to that - using the same 3 - 5 minutes to start with--or more if you can handle it. Don't overdo it -- it takes time to increase to a point where you can exercise with the whole tape, or do a 30 minute a day exercise routine. Find something fun. A hula-hoop is fun and fairly safe for almost everyone. Avoid impact exercises like jumping jacks--bad for your joints and you'll pay for that later in life! Try doing something with movements that you don't normally do so that you exercise all of your muscles. Stretching for a few minutes first is very helpful. If you eat healthy foods and slip every so often - don't feel guilty about it - just get right back on a healthy diet.
brashgal Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Dexatrim is not nearly as scary a product since they stopped using PPA and ephedrine (which could cause strokes, seizures, etc). My guess is that it is not nearly as effective as it used to be either - does contain caffeine and ECGC (green tea extract) but you can get those from coffee/sodas and by drinking green tea (much tastier and more pleasant and probably cheaper). The other posters are right - watch your calories, get moving and realize there are a lot of us out there who will be doing the same - it's the New Year and time to make (and KEEP) resolutions.
Author babygurl_152003 Posted December 28, 2003 Author Posted December 28, 2003 NO I am not pregnant. I take prenatal vitamens because the pharmasist reconmended it. Cause I asked him which would be the best vitamen to take and he said that he said that its better than one source. And I went on the Adkins diet for 1 month and lost 13 lbs. but I just got sick of meat!!! But I started back on it today.
