We weren't extremely close, so my grief is not nearly as deep right now as it is for many in her life. But we knew each other 20 years, so there are a lot of memories. I've lost someone to reminisce with, about those times.

She was diagnosed only 6 weeks ago, and knew she was in for the fight of her life. But she was a fighter, and I never stopped believing she could beat it.

I was supposed to see her before Christmas, and I had to cancel because I had a head cold, and didn't want to infect her. I thought I would have another chance, but she started declining rapidly after Christmas. In hindsight, I would have gone anyway, with a mask or something. But it all happened so quickly.

I have only positive memories, and she always knew how I felt, so I don't feel guilt. Just a bit of selfish disappointment, I suppose, that I didn't get one last chance to see her.

You just never know when your time with someone you care about will be your last. It made me want to take better care of my friendships; make sure the people I care about always know how I feel. Life can be so short.

So sorry to hear the sad news and so sorry about you not getting to see her again. :(

You'll always have the positive memories.

Sorry for your loss. I know how much you're hurting...I too, lost a friend to cancer, except she died a week before Christmas..Left behind her grieving family, husband, and two kids - One pre-teen and one teen. Just is so sad.

I'm glad you don't feel guilty. Guilt and regret are such awful feelings to have to deal with when you lose someone.

Yes, life is short. It happens in a day. Please accept my condolences for your friend. Very sad.

Absolutely. This is what hearly killed me after I lost my mother and father. A word spoken to my mother the day before she dies keeps resounding over and over in my head. So, yes, it is important that we treat the people we love with utmost care.
