Sometimes I wonder if someone from high above is trying to make my life experience weird.

So let's start off with what happened last night, then throw in a question for you ladies.

So I was walking down the street and this cute girl is walking my way, as I approach, she turns her head to the side, as she tries to walk past me... not looking where she goes. Then she runs into a newspaper bin.

So this has happened a few times and I always wonder, is it because they are trying their best not to have eye contact, turning their head the other way as they walk past me.

Why do you ladies do it?

Sorry, haven't an answer for you because I'd look you straight in the eye and smile.

However, your story was funny. Thanks!

Hmmm, I've walked into a pole before as a result of looking across the street at a woman. Opposite problem, perhaps?

You guessed it, they dont want to encourage you to talk to them by lookin your way. its the total opposite of looking right at you and smiling. I see it happen to me all the time. Problem is I never remember whether I was looking in her direction already.

my guess is that this is the correct assumption, in most cases.

personally, however, i have a tendency to look away, whether glancing down or to the side, when someone in the street passes by me and is staring.

this has nothing to do with the guy, personally, as he can be really cute, and i will still do it, but rather that i am discomforted by people who stare at me when they are walking.

sometimes i will smile (and look down at the ground :lmao:), but not usually. i chalk this up to my shyness more than anything, though.

I bolded the explanation. When a guy stares too hard it feels creepy, like an invasion of your personal space, so you look away to discourage him.

OP are you staring or openly assessing the women in question?

I wouldn't be asking this girl out or trying to chat her up. She's avoiding eye contact for a reason.

Not staring. She was already looking away when i looked at her. She was looking at a brick wall.

Well then maybe she's just really into mortar.

My theory is that you blind them with your hotness - it's llike looking directly at the sun. They can't handle it, so they bump into random objects. You should kindly offer to tie a scarf over their eyes and then take them home.
