madrugada Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Wow, Sadkitty. Joy Division. I've been listening to that too. Pretty heavy stuff. Also a lot of Tom Waits and my old jazz records, which are full of breakup songs like "You Don't Know What Love Is," "Bye Bye Blackbird," "The Thrill Is Gone" and stuff like that. If you really want to torture yourself, you should check out a new album by The Swell Season, called "Strict Joy." It's by a couple who were once in a relationship but kept performing together and recording after they broke up. The album traces the course of the breakup. It's beautiful and sad. Ironically, I first heard about the album on the day my ex moved out. I came home from work, my house was empty, and I was sitting on my couch listening to NPR, surveying the wreckage of my life. They came on and reviewed this album. It wrecked me all over again. But it's good music.
novack Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 go your own way is amazing i love listening to it to get pumped up about not being the ex
boogieboy Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 You shouldnt listen to breakup songs, they could slip you into a deeper depression before you realize it. Listen to happy stuff. Maybe even instrumentals. Electro songs without lyrics did it for me when I was depressed. High energy, loud, no breakup lyrics.
ginyi1111 Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 My Chemical Romance - I Dont Love You It's brilliant!

teanoranges Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Currently: Bush- "Cold Contagious" its kind of 'angry' based, but I'm not too angry or depressed anymore for it to have a bad effect on me.
