So, I found this picture that I liked, to me it seemed to symbolise a domestic, content couple bliss scenario - a print of a naive style painting couple sitting in a log cabin. So, on the advice of a friend who is into this sort of thing I hung it in the love corner of my room according to Feng Shui principles (I mean, might as well try all methods to help the love life, right?).

Nothing happened, weeks went by, nothing happened, until I realised I'd put it in the wealth corner by mistake. So I moved it to the right place and 2 weeks later the guy seeing now appeared on my doorstep to ask me out.

Problem is, the guy and our relationship basically is the damn domestic scene, we never go out, we sit in and eat just like in the pic, and he plays dreadful music like in the pic and well...I want more, More MORE ;) and I feel like I picked the wrong picture to symbolise the kind of relationship I want.

So, the question is not whether you believe in this Feng Shui stuff of not, but what should I replace the picture with to bring me passion and domestic bliss, and socialising together and communication and well, everything.

Any ideas????? Links to pictures if possible!!!

everything in pairs, facing each other, on a parallel level (not one above/below/behind/in front of the other).

The colour red, and vibrant.

The love corner is the Earth element. It's colour is yellow, and the Formative element is Fire, which is red.

So yellow items, like to yellow candles, would also be good.

Keep anything representing the Water Element, well away.

I was a registered Feng Shui Consultant, although as I was abroad for a time, My membership did not cover me overseas, and I was away too long to renew it upon my return.

but I do understand this stuff....

thanks - why no water? too wet and watery and flowing away-ey? Just curious.

I was thinking a simply love heart might do it, as opposed to a specific image in terms of 'be careful what you wish for because you might just get it'

maybe you need an andy warhol print

Put a painting of the sun. Today I was reading about the sun, how it represents the masculine principle in the world. It is the symbol of a powerful, masculine energy.

Go for it. Then once this hot masculine guy comes along - the perfect guy, right - then you can put a picture of the sun/moon in balance.

lol. I'm totally digging this. Seriously.

Water quenches fire (passion, success) and can overwhelm earth (mudslides, bogs, quicksand....) so anything that cools passion, pours cold water on it, dampens desire, rains on your parade....getting the picture now?

Two love hearts.

You want to end up as a pair, don't you?

So everything symbolising 'couples' is better than staying single....

Of course 2 love hearts d'oh....maybe I'm meant to be eternally single, think in terms of 1's always.

Thanks for the advice. I like the idea of the sun..and since I'm Cancerian it kind of balances out the moon.

my whole living room is painted blue...wondering if this is too water-like in that corner...anyway, I shall away and start assembling love images, yellow candles etc.

Why not a collage of pics of (some of) the specific things that inspire passion in you, as well as of activities/experiences/adventures that you'd like to have with your guy? You could incorporate words as well -- use pretty fonts if you DIY, or buy wall-hanging thingies from the dollar store (or whatever fits your budget.)

I'm not going to speculate on how things are for you romantically, but a compuuter also runs on currents... like water.

Don't blame me, but in modern parlance, Electrical goods are associated with water, as is money.. (currents, currency, we say money flows through our hands, like water..... all that money down the drain... liquid assets..... )

So really, your computer shouldn't be there...if you lend credence to such matters.

If you don't, then ignore me..... ;)

interesting...my computer is in my money corner...let the cash roll in!

how about gold colour in the love corner? Or does it specifically have to be yellow? - have just stuck up two gold love hearts parallel to one another. I shall expect an instant response from the universe!!

this is so fascinating!

I do things like put rose quartz on my window sills etc. (still trying to attract this great love of mine!) and have a little "altar" in the northwest corner of my room, where I light candles, meditate and have this great picture I found in a cool "metaphysical" type of store... the picture is hard to explain... has fairies dancing around in the snow and beautiful colors swirling around them... I never thought about what it could be attracting to me! but maybe it's not even in my "love corner".. because, um... where exactly is your love corner? ;)

oops.. didn't mean to threadjack!

but if you want to go out more and do stuff with your man, maybe hang up a picture of places you'd like to go.... or outdoor type of stuff.

let us know what you do and if it works... like I said, so fascinating! :)

ps Dreamergirl Windows 7 are you kidding me??? Go forth and put a nice pic of something up on your computer and move it fast!!! I've a lamp there...that's probably bad too with all the electricity flowing around, I would have thought it would make everything all electric and sparky, but obviously not.

What if I move my futon and sleep in my love corner? I was seriously thinking about moving it there.

Good idea....Red or pink bedspread, or if that's to bleah" for you, have touches of red... maybe scatter-cushions... if the headboard is against the wall, put a picture above it, of something sensual and agreeable... but again, think of things in two's....

Is it a single futon....?

If so, put it this way... do you want it to continue being a 'single' futon...?

Love on the skids...?

Slippery slope to the bottom?

Skating on thin ice?

See, how figurative speech also reflects Feng Shui?

What is the love corner? Anyone care to explain anything about this?

ok, this is according to the practice I used to be a Consultant in..

The Black hat Sect feng Shui.

Draw a rectangle. (landscape).

Divide it into nine equal smaller sections/rectangles. (Three rows of three)

Follow me:

Top left:

Fortunate Blessings.

Top Centre:

Fame, Success.

Top Right:

Relationships (This is the corner in question)

Middle Left

Elders

Centre Square:

Neutral: (of all the others, all the others feed it. The great Void containing 'All'.)

Middle Right;

Children/Creativity.

Bottom left

meditation contemplation, Education. Knowledge.

Bottom middle

Journey

Bottom Right

Heaven/Helpful people

Thanks, I did that.

But does this relate to the bedroom or the whole house?

Ok, I searched on google and figured that out (I think) and my book shelf is in the love corner. What would that signify?

Since I've put my 2 love hearts up, I've had a guy I've fancied for years in contact with me, a guy in a class I'm doing inviting himself over to my house and my lover paying me far more attention than normal...might be just conincidence...but I hope not!

well. your entrance/doorway, into any space, is always along the bottom edge of the rectangle. so you'll find it in Mountain/meditation, Water/Journey or Heaven/helpful people. (It can even overlap two of the areas.)

So, maybe your front door is in the Helpful people area of the house, but in this direction, your sitting room is in the Mountain/meditation area, with the door to a right angle to the front door.

So, you turn left, and then you're reducing the chart to fit over your drawing room...

In other words, you canrotate, and 'enlarge' or 'reduce' the chart according to the space you're viewing. Even your desk, with you sat along the bottom edge....

is this making sense?

It's hard to explain without being next to you....!

Ok, I searched on google and figured that out (I think) and my book shelf is in the love corner. What would that signify?

Paper represents Wood (obviously!) so you have Wood in an Earth area. in the cycle of the Elements, Wood 'balances' earth. In other words, it tempers its energy, and quietens it down... Painting your shelves red, symbolising Fire, provides a way of overcoming the 'tranquillising' effect of wood, and energising the Earth Area. Fire consumes Wood, and makes ash ( a good Earth fertiliser!) After all, you want to stimulate this area, not sedate it!

Since I've put my 2 love hearts up, I've had a guy I've fancied for years in contact with me, a guy in a class I'm doing inviting himself over to my house and my lover paying me far more attention than normal...might be just conincidence...but I hope not!

Sorry, this made me laugh...This is a line I repeatedly heard from clients, almost without fail, as a Consultant.

I would spend two hours, going round their home, recommending changes, 'Feng Shui 'Cures' colour schemes, furniture moves, and other Feng Shui pointers, and they would implement them - and then contact me within two days to let me know something extraordinary had happened, in the very area they were seeking to affect...but maybe it was a coincidence....?

They'd totally put their faith in me to guide them and help them change their lives... and they'd paid me good money to do it too....but when it actually worked, was effective and showed results - it was just too much for them to really completely believe everything I had given them, had actually worked in the way I had predicted it would!!

Aaah dear....!

Now all you have to do, is to leave the area alone, until things settle down... then see how things develop...

Thanks :)

Maybe I should put my bookshelf elsewhere and put something else in the corner? Any suggestions?

Feng Shui is not a predictive horoscope, there are plenty of Chinese divination methods for that (ironically the Chinese Zodiac is not one of them), but an expression of aesthetic harmony between the "earth" and the "world" of human construction and habitation.

There is one proactive "divination" method that works. Write down your goals on a piece of paper, together with a plan consisting of steps for achieving those goals. Read that paper when you rise in the morning, and again when you go to bed. Focus your thinking on those goals as you execute your plan to achieve them in your day-to-day life. You will be amazed at the results your efforts bring. :)
