Stung Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I am thinking about doing the online dating thing. I was just curious about other peoples experiences. Were you or someone you know able to find someone to have a meeningful relationship with, through online dating. Thanks I met my husband on OkC. I used it as a dating tool for several months and was disheartened, but then I was making a major move to another city/state and used it as a way to meet people, and I ended up making several friends through the site and ultimately starting a LDR which eventually prompted me to move AGAIN to live with the man...a couple years later we married. My two best friends started meaningful relationships on Match. One was a lesbian relationship that lasted 2 years but unfortunately came to an abrupt end, one was a hetero relationship that led to marriage (married 2 years now). I know there are a lot of horror stories but the success stories happen, too.
bwidger Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 ANyonhe else notice that most of these success stories come from women? Ironic, no?
Star Gazer Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 What's sad is, even until this day, I have still seen the same chronically single women (their faces) till this VERY DAY. lol. Doesn't that mean that YOU have been on the dating sites just as long? Would you rather be the pot, or the kettle? OD works...for the right people.
Stung Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 ANyonhe else notice that most of these success stories come from women? Ironic, no? Not particularly. Unless we're all paired up with each other I think you can safely assume there are men who have success stories, too.
johngdating Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 As an online dating industry person I can assure you that there are a VERY LARGE number of people who I know (myself included) who have met people online. There was a statistic out recently from the UK-60% of the relationships out there are born online. I can't locate the link offhand but even if they are half correct it is still a very large percentage! John
b52s Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Doesn't that mean that YOU have been on the dating sites just as long? Would you rather be the pot, or the kettle? OD works...for the right people. I figured YOU'D say that....but I have a response for THAT as well. The reason they're still single and online is the fact they keep turning guys like me down, so thus.....THAT's the reason I'm still single and online. So it's self perpetuating. lol (Though, I'm doing online dating less and less these days)
b52s Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 ANyonhe else notice that most of these success stories come from women? Ironic, no? Of course.....women hardly have any problem getting a date, it's typically the men that do. When I was doing o nline dating more intently, I was lucky if I got 2 to 4 dates a YEAR. (Which means, actually MEETING in person in a face-to-face encounter).
