I met a guy over Christmas that lives 600 miles away that I can't stop thinking about

Over Christmas, my family and I went to visit relatives down in Georgia. When I was there, I met this guy who started chatting me up. He knew I was only in town for a few days and with that out in the open, I agreed to go out with him - just a little fling.

After 2 dates (2 days in a row) he starts telling me how he is really falling for me and is so sad that I have to leave. I was a little frustrated by that since there wasn't anything to be done about it.

He came over to where we were staying on the last day and we just talked. By the end of the night I was completely smitten. And no, I did not sleep with him.

It's a couple days later now and I'm back home and I'm finding it difficult to forget him. I've never believed in long distance relationships as there are just too many variables and I can't imagine they're very successful without seeing each other at least on a weekly or bi weekly basis. Even a lot of celebs say they make their relationships work by never being apart more than a couple weeks at a time...

What do you think? Can a long distance relationship actually be successful (whatever that means)?

Or should I just remember it for what I originally looked at it as - just a fling?

My gf and I call those "vacation boyfriend's" Everytime we travel, we meet someone we hang out with.

The novelty usually wears off after you settle back into familiar surroundings.
