curiousnycgirl Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I think I entered the twilight zone at 2:00 this morning. I have three very distinctive ring tones on my cell phone, one for calls, one for texts and a third for instant messages. At 2 am my text message ring tone sounded, which is very loud when the you have been sleeping soundly. Of course I "knew" it had to be him (a full 4 weeks since our last discussion), so I jumped up to read it. Actually would have jumped regardless - who texts at 2 am? And there it was right on my phone - absolutely nothing. There was no message, from anyone. I know I checked at least 14 times. How is it possible that the darn ringtone went off in response to nothing?! That's never happened before, WTF? Needless to say I got very little sleep last night.
temple Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Dear me! Must have been a dream. If you're thinking of him so much it's only natural to dream up that he's texting.
anne1707 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Are you sure you were not just dreaming? I've done that in the past and ended up confused between dream and reality. And with you going through all this your dreams may be more vivid/stressful anyway
Author curiousnycgirl Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) I really don't think it was a dream, it was jarringly loud and I dropped the phone while trying to open it to shut it up. But interesting thought. Edited December 30, 2009 by curiousnycgirl
bayouboi Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I think it could also be a dream. I've been awakened by what I was SURE were the sounds of someone intruding in my house. So convinced that I had the pistol loaded and gripped in my hand as I searched around, only to realize that it must have been sounds my mind conjured up in the half awake/half asleep state.
Author curiousnycgirl Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 If that is the case I am STUNNED - it literally made me jump from a dead sleep. Wow our minds play terrible tricks on us.
trueblue72ny Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Nope, you are not cracking up. It is your mind playing tricks on you. I also hear the phone ringing sometimes in my head but when I check it there is nothing there!! It happens to me all the time. I was wondering for awhile if I had a mild case of schizophrenia, but nope, its just your mind
Kantor Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I had a very similar dream last night, however, not about an ex. My work phone sits next to my bed and has direct connect. I woke up to someone talking through my work phone checking on my location. When i really came to, and wanted to see who would dare wake me unless it was WW3 there was nothing there... When blackberries first came out there was a condition called "phantom vibrations" as in you would think your phone was vibrating in your pocket but it wasn't... Like you said, our minds like to play tricks on us sometimes!
EricaH329 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 When blackberries first came out there was a condition called "phantom vibrations" as in you would think your phone was vibrating in your pocket but it wasn't... That happens to me alllllll the time. I hate it. I also wake up to loud noises, whether it's the sound of a phone ringing or something falling and breaking... but none of that really happens. Scary!
