alclarkey Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I think its just some abstract meaningless cliched phrase, that gets repeated when a woman wants to look cool online. The only looks she's getting from me when she writes something like that is
temple Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 If a guy said that I would immediately think he was rather arrogant or defending himself in advance for being a total arsehole. Surely people who really are strong don't need to assert their strength in such a way!
D-Lish Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Well I can be a bit of a bitch sometimes- but you don't advertise your faults in your resume. Somebody that would come out and say something like that has issues.
Awesome Username Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 When I hear that phrase, I get a visual in my mind: I imagine a guy stepping into still-drying concrete, surprised that it isn't as hard as he thought it would be. He keeps messing with it, until eventually he finds himself messy and stuck to the ground. Soon he has to call for help, and in the end he just looks like big idiot.
ordinary_girl Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I agree. It could only have a negative connotation. By the meaning of the word "handle" alone it's safe to say it won't be something positive. I agree. Also, I thought it was children we were supposed to 'handle'. Surely adults can handle themselves? Because I see myself as a strong woman, I also believe that I am 100% responsible for my actions and decisions. It would be extremely patronising if my partner thought I needed 'handling'.
