And DC is supposed to have a lot more women than men, but you'd never notice that given how picky they are. Hope you can afford to buy and drive a BMW, otherwise you're better off moving to a more suburban area.

Heheh, i was just in Mclean on saturday.. I wouldn't want that commute either.

I live in this same area. There are a lot of repugnant folks here but it is across the board - again, not a gender thing.

None of the guys I know personally in sucessful relationships drive BMWs or similar. In fact most of them ride the train and/or a bicycle and if they have a car at all, it is a beater or average compact.

@Beta,

I think dating in the DC/MD/VA metro area depends on a couple of things. My experience as a black male in this area would be quite different. I'm a young professional so the people I tend to meet are also professionals. I don't think the wealth factor has come up for me in any significant manner. My one regret this year is that I never really was aggressive enough in ensuring that I dated women from diverse backgrounds. It's easier said than done but I never tried hard enough, which is my fault so I can't complain.

I work in Tysons Corner and have been for a number of years.

I agree with your general sentiment. I never bought into that rubbish about using material possession to attract women. I think a lot of people especially in DC and southern MD use the metro more often than they drive anyway. I wish I could use the metro because driving in this area just plain sucks.
