2.50 a gallon Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I just had an un-nerving exerperience. I was driving by the apartment complex where I met my XW. I go by there about once a month, never a problem, she is ancient history. I was listening to the oldies station and wouldn't you know they just happened to play our song. It was an instant flashback to 30 years ago when she decorated the tree in a black lingerie outfit and high heels in that apartment. And the black hole enveloped me, just like it did 30 years ago when we broke up. No worry, 15 minutes later the same station played Neil Diamond Sweet Caroline with the line "when I hurt, hurting runs off my shoulder . . ." and I was back to my present GF. In answer to the question of when does the hurting go away, the answer is 6 months to a couple of years. But be warned you are never totally cured. 1

PWSX3 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I think that goes back to what they say in divorce care class. When two people separate/divorce it is more of a tearing of flesh & it's not a clean break so each spouse will always have a part of the other within them....... Just like you & Gunny, you have learned to move on & are happy now, but those memories will always be there...... I know it's only been 15 months since my former wife left but I'll be driving down the road & a song will come on or you see a couple doing something & it brings back those memories..... Thanks for sharing, it does help.....
