I need to get this under control, I have gained and lost the same 7 pounds 5 weeks in a row....I am not that stressed, using food to feel better about whatever but not depressed just busy and the holidays make it more inviting... HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You might be losing it too quickly - it's like people who go on crash diets always gain the weight back in no time because the body's trying to readjust. Take it easy, make yourself some realistic goals and chuck out the junk food. Oh, and don't forget all that at Christmas ;) How far away are you from your goal?

I reached my goal in June, I always fluctutate 3 pounds or so. You are right its the junk food. I need to just cut it out once and for all. If you can't handle it, its done.......

Stress eating can lead to binge disorder. You really need to throw out the junk food or keep junk food eating to a moderate intake. If you feel like you still want to indulge high calorie foods, I recommend you do a detox ( which will help with junk food cravings) or seek out a nutritionist.

Alternatively you can try to binge on healthier foods, like keeping nuts ( almonds, cashews) around or low sodium crackers. Nuts are dense so they'll fill you up after 5 - 10 pieces, and always drink a glass of water when you're hungry to so you'll eat less.

Good idea, need to eliminate all junk food period, no more this will make it easier...............

What are you doing on the exercise front?

I am good this way...3 days a week weight training, 3 days a week cardio, but when I gain say 2-5 pounds I go to 5 days a week cardio. That does help my cravings and mentally keeps me focused. I need to eliminate junk though, its like drugs to me, I can't handle a little bit, I always go extreme. This past week I did not go to the gym per my normal routine due to the holidays and my cravings start up like mad.

From the sounds of it, you do have a binge disorder.

If you cut out junk food or exercise completely, either of the two will sent you into craving overdrive. And when you do binge, you overcompensate it by overexercising.

It's not healthy because you're basically yo-yo dieting.

Do you think you can see a a nutritionist? You're not at an extreme point where you need counseling but an eating disorder ( especially for bingeing) requires a large amount of self control on your part.

That means you're going to have to plan your meals and keep a food diary. You need to rewire your brain to not want to eat so much ( stop eating when you're full; not when the plate is empty) and to pick nutritious foods over junk food ( don't cut out junk food COMPLETELY since it will just make you binge more; allow yourself a cheat day ( like Sunday for something sweet like ice cream but keep it moderate) OR, pick low calorie alternatives like 100 calorie pack snacks over a large size dorito bag).

Everything comes down to self control.

If you're bingeing and overcompensating with exercise, it just means you're punishing yourself in the end. Make it a routine and habit to exercise for health ( and not necessarily weight control since your binging is making you more weight obsessed) and try to eat healthier alternatives.

Next time you do jump off the wagon with a binge, please drink a large glass of water and wait 15 minutes. If you are still hungry, eat raw nuts or a meal as opposed to snacks.

I think I got this under control. I think I was way more stressed then what I was willing to admit..I def see the relation to eating and the stress its clear. Sounds stupid but it was not very clear before. I finally saw the pattern and I have corrected it. It has not been easy but I am doing well. I have to remind myself and stay aware, like deprogramming. Thanks for the all the advice here.
