It is Friday night -- during the holidays -- and I am home alone again.

Yet, two weeks ago I opened my apartment and had a pretty fabulous holiday. I cooked for days and had about 28 people in throughout the night, eating, drinking, and having a good time.

Now I text a dozen of them about their plans for the weekend (or even tonight) and there isn't even anyone who can join me in going to a movie. A bunch are going to other holiday parties (gee, you all know I'm single and alone - maybe you could see if I could come along?)

Well, maybe not. But this is the third year in a row that I have had my holiday party and no one has ever reciprocated. I know a bunch don't throw parties and that isn't the issue; it is more that I seem to be the one to always invite friends to my home for food or drinks or movies and I can't remember the last time I was invited to anyone's home.

Okay. I'm done ranting. I'm going to a movie. Alone. Again. :(

Hey CarrieT, I feel you. It's Friday night and I'm sitting here at home waiting to see if a girl I met online is gonna want to go out and get some coffee.

Other than that, I'll be watching a movie alone as well. Time can't come soon enough!

well you shouldn't take it personaly. You could have thrown a christmas party and asked people to bring money to cover the cost lol

i guess these aren't the friends you thought they were/are. after 3 years, they really shouldn't be expecting a 4th, and i wouldn't be bashfull about telling them why.

For most of my adult life I owned power boats..

I always had a boat full of friends each weekend.. skiing, camping just all around having a great time..

Not one friend EVER chipped in for gas.. or food.. just to fill my last boat up was about 150-200 bucks and the tank would only last about 6 hours of boating.

They were great friends.. many would have given the shirt off their back to me if I had needed it, but....
