ppge4 Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 The last guy I dated had a thing for small, all american looking blondes. He never told me directly, but I saw pictures and he would always comment about actresses who fit that time. Now I am tall, athletic, and not to sound too vain but good looking (Charlize Theron w/ brown hair). Anyway things didn't work out between us, I ended it. Although we still talk once in a while. I wonder if things could have work for us in the future. I'm starting to think that he has a 'type'?that I will never fit into. Are there some guys who just can't break away from a certain type.
TheBigQuestion Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I think guys have a handful of types that they are into. Most don't have just one as far as I know though.
stevejohnson1976 Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I'm a dude, and definitely have a type. It has a lot to do with the 'best' relationship you have been in or a dream girl. When I look for girls, I am always looking for someone similar to my ex. i dont know why, but that is who I am most attracted to.

Well think about it, what types of guys do you date? Are there types of guys with certain physical attributes that you wont date? People have their parameters, its part of life. EVeryones different. Some guys wont bother with brunettes, some guys wont like the shape of your face. Nothin you can do (if you dont want to bleach your hair...)
Author ppge4 Posted December 17, 2009 Author Posted December 17, 2009 Sorry for all the typos. Thanks for the responses. stevejohnson1976, I fear that is the situation. His first 'love of his life' was a petite blond. But he's dated a few different types since. He and I dated for 8+ months. I would think if he was SET on a type, then he wouldn't be exclusive with someone like me for that long... But now I'm self conscious when I'm around him because I'm not a petite blonde, which irritates the **** out of me.
monkey00 Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I think it's safe to say most people have a type. But I see a lot of happy couples out there who are in relationships with someone that isn't their type. I'm going out with someone that isn't my type at all right now. But what really shines about her is her personality.

Yes, I like good looking but I think lots of different types are good looking. It's not like I go around only dating tall, dark, Italian men...ya know?

Brown hair, nice butt (must), petite...its been that way for awhile...only found 2 in my 15 years of dating (wow im old), and im looking for the same now!! I was exclusive with a blond, non-petite(not fat, just not 5'-1" like I like) for 7 years...that is by 3 fold my longest. but when i comes down to it...i want that petite, brown haired, nice butt, beauty....
stevejohnson1976 Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 But now I'm self conscious when I'm around him because I'm not a petite blonde, which irritates the **** out of me. then move on..it isnt worth it if you are even remotely uncomfortable....it will never go away and only get worse .."hmmm...its been 4 years, but i know he still likes petite blondes". no matter what you are (brown hair, 5'-7", whatever) there is someone out there who you will be their type. i hope that makes sense...been a long night here...
FilthMerchant Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Just like we look at your fathers... you girls should look at the guys mothers
meerkat stew Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I think guys have a handful of types that they are into. Most don't have just one as far as I know though. This is how it is with my friends and I. I know very few men or women who have highly specific preferences, it's like the old art cliche' they know what they like when they see it.

That's mostly B.S. ... the "type" thing... instead it is more accurate to say: has a "habit" or a "trend" toward a certain look. Do you ever go out for pizza and just order the same thing as always just because it wouldn't involve having to sort through a bunch of toppings to figure out some new combination? Then, of course, if the EX from way back, for whom he has always pined, was a wispy little blond, then that is another inspiration for his currently attempting to get as near to the image that represents her, as he possibly can. Those who even claim to have a "type" are socially lazy at best, and not very deep at worst.

Charlize Theron is from south africa, so how could she be "all american"? I would want to date any color, religion, etc, so long as she wasn't obese, was sane, and wasn't materialistic.
Art_Critic Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I always had a type when I was dating and wouldn't you know it that my wife is nothing like my type.. Turns out that my type was all wrong for me Goes to show you what the type really means.. at least to me anyhow..
Dolos Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Most guys have a physical type they like, but few are really strict with it. If a guy dumps you for something like hair color odds are he wasn't all that into you anyway, or the guy is just in that minority that will only date people who meet very specific physical specifications. People can also have personality types they like too. Personally i think many different things can be physically attractive, but im a lot choosier with personality. Im going to choose the sarcastic intelligent somewhat bitchy girl over the naive nice girl nine times out of ten, but stuff like hair color or height wont come into play as long as they are attractive.
