Men and women are not enemies!

Why are there so many war-of-the-sexes threads on this forum?

How do people expect to establish healthy relationships if they expect the worst out of the opposite gender?

They'll either always be on offensive or defensive mode and never in simple joyful getting to know someone mode.

I don't get it. I wish more people enjoyed dating.

its all in good fun Kamille and anyways without those threads you may as well shut LS down and turn off the lights.

Instead of trying for a healthy relationship, they think that playing the blame game on why their past experiences have been anything but happy is more important.

Hopefully they learn someday.

True... I guess it's normal for a dating board to have people trying to figure men or women out. And yet, there is no such thing as a 'normal' guy or a 'normal' woman.

I treat every man I meet like an individual in his own right and build trust and respect from there (or not).

I just feel like the board has been flooded with those posts lately. I should perhaps read the archives from 2005 to see if I was just missing the excessive negative generalizations of the opposite gender in the past.

Hopefully.

Sometimes I think the problem is that people now EXPECT to be in love, have a family by a certain age and feel betrayed, or flawed, or jipped if it doesn't pan out according to plan.

I've always just thought it would be great if I met someone special - but never really thought it had to happen in order for me to be happy.

Exactly. People feel entitled to things now.

That last sentence is brilliant. Everyone needs to think that way.

Do you understand that men and women are different? Would you be happy if I told you it was never going to happen for you

I think every human is unique and different from the next and find that while men and women are different on some fronts, they actually have a lot more in common.

What isn't going to happen?

I'm happy now, madly in love with my bf now, in love with life now. I have been in love with life for the last 14 years or so, a third of which I spent single. Should I stop enjoying life now to focus worrying about the future? Truth be told... I don't know if bf and I will make it past my move to Europe. But I sure love having him in my life right now and wouldn't trade that for the world.

I don't know what the future holds and I don't expect well-being and happiness to be ever lasting. It comes and it goes, but happiness, like everything else, takes practice. I know what makes me happy. It's really simple. It's eating right, great conversations, exercise, laughter, great sex (and great self-gratification too:p!), good meals, good friends, etc etc.

It's much easier dealing with the dating world once you realize your well-being doesn't depend on it. It depends on being able to take care of yourself. the bonus? This approach to life allows you to cope with life's challenges more successfully then if you're anxiety ridden.

I'm sure I'm doing a great job!

Any way you could point me to a thread where we could see the lead up to the first annual LS Annoy-Alpha extravaganza?

The off topic thread. It actually dates back many months ago. People stole his avvie then and he got pissed, and it came to mind tonight, so we did a sequel.

Kamille, your avie is much smaller...It's a mini-me version :D

It's so she just blends in but we still know she is different. ;)
