Hey there. My girlfriend and me plan on getting a little wasted after the semester ends at our college. Just to celebrate. It's been a while since we've done it. We don't drink that much since we're so busy, and to be honest it's not something we usually do in our spare time. My girlfriend is pretty particular about what she likes to drink. For some reason she really likes beer...even just as a regular beverage. It's weird, but yes, she has no issue at all drinking beer.

The problem is I'm not sure how much it will take for her to get smashed. She's about 5'0", and 100 lbs. Yeah she's a short, petite little thing. I'm guessing a full six pack would do it, probably four of any over-the-shelf beer. But she might be done to trying something stronger. Hard liquor. We've usually had Smirnoff Vodka, which is about 40%...which she didn't really like. But I believe that is in part to not mixing it well with anything (I suck at making drinks.) She was even inquiring about trying Bacardi 151 which is nearly twice as strong...but I'm not sure if there is anything good enough to mix with it. I've had it before straight, and it tastes like drinking fire. We'll probably just go with a six pack of some regular beer, but just in case she wants to try something stronger like Smirnoff or Bacardi 151, any tips in terms of mixing something that tastes decent and isn't that complicated to make? A suggestion on what the strongest regular beer that is widely available here in California would help as well. Thanks.

First, I would like to point out that I'm several inches taller than your gf, about 115-120lbs...and I would be hammered after 4 drinks.

Are you both 21?

You know, there are people (young like you) who have died of alcohol poisoning. I personally have treated several people for this in the ICU at hospitals. (I am a doctor.)

Why do you want to get "wasted"? You can't even remember what happened, and you have a hangover. Why don't you just go out, and have some fun, and just get a little drunk, and then take a limo home.? I have never understood the "wasted" thing. Hanging over the porcelain crown puking never looked like fun to me.

For every drink you have, drink a glass of water. Alcohol dehydrates you, so you'll end up with a huge headache if you don't drink water along with the alcohol.

For mixed drinks, cranberry juice goes well with vodka. Ice, one part vodka, and three parts cranberry. You can add a lime wedge. If she doesn't like cranberry juice, this works with pretty much any juice.

She's very small and doesn't drink often, so she won't need more than a drink to feel buzzed, and two to feel pretty tipsy. Three will likely put her into drunk territory. Any more than that and she'll probably end up sick.

Don't drink fast. Sip. Drink a lot of water. Do NOT drink on an empty stomach - eat food first! And be somewhere safe where you don't have to drive home. Drink a bunch of water before going to bed, too.

Excuse me. I didn't mean "wasted" in the context of doing major harm to our bodies. We've done this before and know our limits. Neither of us want to throw up, and we never have. I meant "wasted" in the term of "getting drunk, but still having overall control of our actions if need be".

Thanks for the help. Yeah we already planned on eating first before we starting drinking. And we'll drink water so we don't get too dehydrated an wake up the next morning with our joints aching. I hate that feeling. Do you have any information if we decide to go with Bacardi 151? I'll google it, but I just want some further insight from this forum if you have any. Thanks again.

I would not not not suggest drinking Bacardi 151. I stress this. I've been drinking for awhile now, pretty frequently, and the only time I came close to getting alcohol poisoning was when I drank 151.

Not saying it can't happen with other liquor, it most certainly can, but 151 tends to sneak up on you, and it's very very strong.

I'd go with regular Bacardi. Vodka is great, and just like another post said, add some Cranberry. That's my personal favorite.

Definitely make sure you take your time. Liquor is definitely sneaky.

Good luck and have fun!

Yeah I think Bacardi 151 would be too much for her. Even just one shot. I won't risk her getting sick. If we go hard liquor, we'll stick with what we have been doing, which is Smirnoff Vodka. Thanks for the insight.

Try beer and mixing 151 with coke. If you also want another good hard liquor try Cuervo 1800. Take a couple shots of this and your head will be spinning. Just make sure the two if you don't drive anywhere afterwards.

beer and 151 with coke? Just reading that makes me feel like vomiting.

Samari, drinking a bunch of different drinks also leads to headaches and vomiting. Generally, stick with one type of drink.

Both beer and coke are carbonated so I guess it makes sense.

Are you kidding? Don't mix beer with liquor -- you will have the worst hangover.

If you are hell-bent on getting drunk on something, stick with one type of alcohol -- don't mix...

you're GF doesn't know WTF she is talking about. she just wants to get sloshed because, like just about all other 21 year olds, it is "cool" (or "sick!" since you're in CA) and "everyone else is doing it." really, that's the bottom line, given that you guys are not drinkers and aren't really drinking alcohol for enjoyment, but just to get wasted.

that said, drinking alcohol just to get wasted is stupid and oh, such a waste. she is tiny and doesn't drink -- do you really want to buy her **** that actually has a flame arrester under the cap? really?

if she wants to drink beer, there's a bunch of stuff you can get at any convenience/liquor store. most of them are  (then again, i'm not a beer fan to begin with), but there are some good stuff (imo, anyway), like: Negra Modelo, Sierra Nevada, Chimay (though she'll likely only need 2 of these), Hefeweizen, Newcastle (typical), and Red Stripe.

these are all "beers" that people you guys' age drink, so check them out. also, if you are going to drink a Mexican beer (ie: Corona), it really does taste better with a wedge of lime and salt inside. anyway, just pick you favorite; she will definitely not need more than a six-pack nor will even consume one, so you probably don't need more than that.

as far as mixed drinks go, try girly drinks that don't require a bunch of things to be mixed in, like:

+ jack/rum and coke -- just Jack Daniels (not all whiskeys work, imo) and Coke or rum (like Captain Morgan) and Coke (less alcohol than soda)

+ screwdrivers -- approximately 2oz vodka and 5oz orange juice

+ margaritas -- i like: 2oz Patron Silver, 1oz Cointreau and 1oz of lime juice -- first moisten the rim of your glass with lime and then dip it in some Cummin Salt (not necessary, just adds taste), fill the glass with ice (crushed/cubed, your preference), add the tequila, lime juice and then Cointreau. stirr until chilled and drink it up, mm!!!

+ malibu bay breeze -- 2oz Malibu Coconut Rum, 2.5oz cranberry juice, and 2oz pineapple juice -- just blend them all together and serve over ice.

+ angel's delight -- 1oz gin (i like Beefeater), 3/4oz Triple Sec, 1oz of

cream, and a little bit of Grenadine Syrup (for color and sweetness, not really necessary) -- pour all into a shaker with ice cubes, shake thoroughly, and serve.

easy.

OR...any coolers will do, really.

I agree..stick with just beer if that's a beverage you both enjoy.

A six pack and your girlfriend would be GONE!!! I'm 5'2, about 120 and I literally get smashed after like 3 drinks. Since she is so petite and rarely drinks her tolerance for alcohol will be absolutely nothing. She is going to need to take it easy. Do NOT pressure her to drink more ifshe doesn't want to.

Why don't you guys just rent movies and have some drinks? I think you are planning a little too much. Planning exactly how you are going to get completely wasted takes all the fun out of it if you ask me. It also is what ends up landing you in the ER...
