littlewhiterose Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 At best my friend’s clueless & looking out for my best interest or at worst, messing up my game. I don’t know if I’m too in my head with this or what. Couple of years ago, met a guy (let’s call him Tim). Had quite a few things in common but I never really felt a spark or anything- so I kept my options open. I didn’t expressly tell Tim “look it’s not working out” but I did create quite a bit of distance. I needed time away anyway cuz I’ve been stressed with work lately. Anyway, ended up meeting another guy that I had more in common with (let’s call him Dave) and things have been going well. Now, my girlfriend knows of both of them. Tim and Dave don’t actually know each other, but they know of each other in passing here and there. My girlfriend, who’s living abroad (right now) keep in touch from time to time. She gave me an open invitation to visit the country she’s in. Now the holidays are here and (we’re catching up). She’s coming back home and asked what I’d be up to during the Winter break. I told her my plans, and she hasn’t responded yet but all of a sudden Tim emailed me saying he’s coming back home for the holidays and will be visiting city “A” and also city “B” (my city) and blah blah blah. Now back when we were getting to know each other he told me he actually didn’t know anyone in my city. He could have gotten to know someone in the time since, but I don’t know. Anyway, it makes me question the timing of these events. Am I too much in my own head with this? Two questions- 1) Is my girlfriend trying to facilitate some sort of cupid thing. Or mess things up? Unfortunately, I’m just not feeling anything for this guy no that level. AND 2)Am I crazy? I don’t know if I’m being too nice or what. I’ve mulled around the idea of saying “ok, well, yeah, let’s grab lunch/drinks or something while you’re here” cuz unless something has changed, he’d essentially be coming to my city just to hang out with me. Which is kinda sweet. I definitely don’t want to lead him on though. And also at the same time if Dave were to find out in passing, I’m pretty sure that’d ruin my future chances with him. So far the odds are in favor with Dave. I’m so mixed up right now…
