I have two days left before my eldest daughter is home for a full three weeks. I cant even say how much I am looking forward to this! I am SO proud of how well she is doing and she has made so many friends and achieved excellent grades. This has been a really tough transition for me but it looks like we are making it work.

She is SO independent now!!!!!!!! Anyone else looking forward to having their baby back home from Uni/elsewhere for Christmas?

:)

Take care,

Eve

Thanks babes, my kids are my life. I think she would debate my wonderfullness though.. especially remembering key moments such as when I have not allowed her to do things or allowed her to do things and let her take responsibility for the mess!

.. Its mad though. When they are little you think they will never grow up and they do things which you could easily strangle them for. Then, suddenly they are their own people.. living their lives.

:)

I have been told that she will need constant feeding and lots of DVDs..

Take care,

Eve xx

me and my mom were really, really close, so whenever I was able to get home there was one thing she'd always do: Count my toes.

I remember waking up once after falling asleep on the sofa, my foot was in her hand, and there she was, counting my toes. When I told her that at 33, I was a little too old for her to be doing that, and she just smiled as she told me, "you'll always be my baby." It's probably one of my most cherished memories of her ...

I hope you and your "little one" have an awesome Christmas break together, and that you create some special memories with her.

Whether she realizes it now or later, you've given her the guidance she needed, balanced with the independence to make judgements for herself and learn from them. That's called being a good parent, and you don't always get thanked for it in the short term, but it shows in the kind of human being you release upon the world.

Nice job, and enjoy your time together...

Hubby and I have decided parenting is mostly a thankless task but yes you see the fruits in their behaviours and attitudes later on.

I just cant believe that she has so much money left over that we gave her... even with all the partying she has done!.. and wait for it.. she has decided that she needs a job now. The daughter that left the family home three months ago had a master plan to not bother with working because she hates 'normal' jobs. Hubby and I have been really strong and stuck to the decision that we will give her money to get started but she will need to learn how to support herself and it seems that she has accepted this now. I think buying food and essentials for herself has given her a new sense of responsibility! Although of course, if she can only get voluntary work in this climate we will support her financially, this has been agreed.

But she has aced all her assignments and group presentations and not taken up with any dodgy looking men, of which there are plenty in London.
