Jaspe_Loco Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I honestly have no idea where to start this thread so I decided to post it her since it concern my MW. During Christmas, b-days and random occasions, the MW and I will buy gifts for one another. We have avoided gifts that were too personal or with romantic connotations due to our spouses. In the past she had bought me t-shirts that relate to my favorite pastime, or a movie she thought I'd like... simple, but very thoughtful things. I'm always very appreciative to the gifts she gives me. I have bought her gift cards to book stores (she loves to read) or a day at the spa. We try to avoid items that we wouldn't buy for ourselves. This year, I want to give her something more personal. Jewelry, of course, is out of the question. I considered clothing, but I'm not sure what size she wears and I don't want to screw up and buy something too big because she's sensitive about her weight although I have no idea why. Gifts cards are out of the question. I've been thinking about perfume. She wears, and has worn, Donna Karan for as long as I've known her. She loves perfume and she always pay particular attention to my scent. I've been looking for something special, but conservative and one fragrance I like is Dolce and Gabbana's The One. What do you ladies think? She's simple, but elegant... ordinary in an extraordinary way. If not D&G, can you give me some suggestions??

I don't know that scent, i will have to check it out.. personally I favor an old favorite.. georgio.. it is perhaps a bit dated, but it is a scent that has always smelled great with my body chemisrty, so i use it often.
lovekillsslowly Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I was going to suggest Dolce & Gabbana's "The One" before I even read it in your post. I discovered it this summer and bought the shower gel, body lotion, and perfume and I get a lot of compliments everytime I wear it!! It smells amazing! I think you made a great choice in choosing it!
White Flower Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Perfume is an excellent idea especially if it is something you like on her. Some popular ones currently are Burberry (several fragrances), Lovely by Sara Jessica Parker, JLo (several fragrances), and Juicy Couture (several fragrances). These are just a few ideas and I wish I were receiving all of them, hint hint.
Author Jaspe_Loco Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 I tried the various fragrances listed and I have decided to stick with D&Gs "The One". It's not that is smells better than the others, rather that it reminds me of her. I also purchased another small gift for her. I know that she keeps as small compact in her desk at work as I would imagine all women do. She is also a big fan of the Twilight saga (books, not movies). I slightly modified one of her favorite quotes to read: Of one thing I am absolutely positive: I am unconditionally and irrevocably in love with you. I'm not accustomed to buying gifts for someone that I care about in this way. What do you think?

I'm not accustomed to buying gifts for someone that I care about in this way. What do you think? I really think the altered quote is a hit. It is very meaningful and she will love it. Deep and meaningful things usually reach the heart and let her know that you know her and are connected with her.
tami-chan Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Of one thing I am absolutely positive: I am unconditionally and irrevocably in love with you. Awwww....Jaspe! so sweet...stick with D&G's The One and write that quote on the card....<sigh>
Lizzie60 Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 My absolute favourite perfume: Euphoria by Calvin Klein... My second favourite : Neiges by Lise Watier (Quebecer)..
fooled once Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I wear Obsession and have gotten a ton of compliments.
Fallen Angel Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 (edited) I wear Obsession and have gotten a ton of compliments. MMMM.. I used to love that one, maybe I need to try that one again. (Oh the memories...) ** I also sometimes use this cheapy lil bottle of oil I bought from a street vendor.. lol.. it is called 24k .. I am sure it is supposed to be a knockoff of some famous perfume, but I don't perfume shop enough to know which one... but I have had people stop me on the street to ask what it was called cause they like it so much... now, if I could only find that street vendor again.... Heather1 Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I would love a gift!! I actually don't even know what to do for Christmas this year for OM. Last year I gave him some books, and he gave me a kiss?? So I don't know, the gift giving thing is turning into a disaster for me really. I was actually thinking if he doesn't get me something to let me know he cares about me, I'm totally done. Otherwise it's as cold as these Tiger A's seem to be.
mybrowneyedgirl Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 not a big perfume fan. i never ever liked for mm to give me gifts. always made me feel guilty or something. i did, LOVE his cards and letters. better than anything store bought.
White Flower Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I like meaningful gifts. He once gave me a charm of something that resembled the place we met. I cherish that charm! Even more, I enjoyed the fact that he took the time to look for something that was meaninful to us both.
herenow Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 OK, I can see that you would like to give the MW a gift, but if she still goes home to her H, don't you think something so personal (like fragrance) would be a red flag for him? Just saying.
