Waitress Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 A good friend of mine lied to me about something kind of stupid. He knows he messed up and promises never to do it again. But I have completely lost trust in him. Does this feeling ever go away? I'm not sure I even want to trust him again since it's so hard for me right now.
Yukikazi Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 I know the feeling.. I had a friend once.. lied to me and used me once.. stopped talking to them for 2 years. Gave them another chance and she held it together for awhile... untill I found out (by overhearing some other person mention it) that she had betrayed my trust and told a secret she shouldn't have. I haven't seen or spoken with her since.. I refuse to answer her calls or return her text's. 15 years of friendship.. she betrays me once.. and that's it.. I'm done.
Author Waitress Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 Yeah. Isn't it amazing how that happens. I think if you go back to someone after they've lied to you somewhere in their mind they feel that it's okay. Ya know?
threebyfate Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Here's what I do. If someone has proven to be untrustworthy once with confidential information, I'm willing to give them a second chance. But through the second chance, I toss in a fat, juicy, red herring, sometimes more than one. If one or more of those red herrings comes back to me, they're toast for life.
