Author dudet Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 i'm sorry, but is this a serious question? we do not care if a guy can cook or not, i mean it's an added bonus .. but whether a guy can cook or not does not enhance or hinder my feelings for him. if he can cook, it's just like ordering a 5 piece chicken nugget and they give you six by accident. it's just a bonus... not like the icing on the cake .. or the cherry on top. i find it odd that you asked this question. and i'm curious as to why you brought it up ? i could see maybe from a girls perspective, because guys feel that us girls should be the ones in the kitchen, making dinner everynight. the guy i'm currently with actually flat out, randomly asked me "can you cook?" and i said "yeah, why?" and he said "good. just wondering." odd. but don't stress this minor ability, you don't need to be Emeril to win a girls heart. well i'm sorry you find it ODD that i ask. it is a question, but nothing to get worked up over....and taken all serious, as you seem to be doing. if a guy can't cook at all, it actually does seem to bother some women. what if you had kids and weren't there to cook for them, then what. there are situations where it is very helpful. you mean to tell me it wouldn't bother you if say a 35 year old man couldn't cook anything, but heat up microwave dinners? the guy asked you if you can cook? probably the type that expects the woman to always cook...good luck cooking and cleaning for him all the time..as well as wiping his behind. lol
Citizen Erased Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 I don't care if a guy can cook or not. It's nice if he is at least interested in learning. Yep, exactly.
LovieDove24 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 No I dont care if my guy can cook...I actually really love being the one to do it but I once dated a guy who'd pick all of the veggies out of the dinners I'd make and leave nothing but meat, carbs and cheese. It really took the joy out of cooking for him... So I'd say picky eating is way more a dealbreaker for me than not being able to cook in the first place.
CLC2008 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 well i'm sorry you find it ODD that i ask. it is a question, but nothing to get worked up over....and taken all serious, as you seem to be doing. if a guy can't cook at all, it actually does seem to bother some women. what if you had kids and weren't there to cook for them, then what. there are situations where it is very helpful. you mean to tell me it wouldn't bother you if say a 35 year old man couldn't cook anything, but heat up microwave dinners? the guy asked you if you can cook? probably the type that expects the woman to always cook...good luck cooking and cleaning for him all the time..as well as wiping his behind. lol This reminds me of my aunt and uncle. They were married since they were in their 20's and she always cooked dinner for him, and a lot of other things too. He was a professor at a very prestige university but he didn't know basic things like how to operate a microwave, or even an atm machine. She passed away a few years back and it was the first time in his life (I think at the time he was in his 50's) where he had to learn how to do all of those things for himself. Someone who is a chef would certainly be nice but I think I would prefer/appreciate someone who could whip up the basics with an occasional creme' brulee
rina_r Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 I dont care if he can. It is a minor thing. I can cook.
CarrieT Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 I went to cooking school so it doesn't matter to me if a guy can cook. But I do care if he is not an adventurous eater; for me, there is nothing worse than being a guy who is happy with Denny's-like food, T.V. Dinners, or food out of packages. A guy who is afraid to try something new gastronomically shows someone who is afraid to try news things in life in general.
Lizzie60 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 how much does it bother you if a guy doesn't know how to cook or doesn't? is it that big of a deal to you? does it turn you off. just curious, because women ive dated seem to like men better who can cook or at least want to I would never be with a man who cannot cook.. total dealbreaker for me..
CLC2008 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 You know what's a deal breaker for me? Men who are single.
Author dudet Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 I would never be with a man who cannot cook.. total dealbreaker for me.. total dealbreaker haha
Author dudet Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 You know what's a deal breaker for me? Men who are single. so what isn't a deal breaker, men in relationships or married ones
CLC2008 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 so what isn't a deal breaker, men in relationships or married ones Both are deal breakers... I was just teasing Lizzie
Author dudet Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 Both are deal breakers... I was just teasing Lizzie oh so she likes married men to cook for her?
Lizzie60 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 total dealbreaker haha Of course it would be a total dealbreaker.. I hate cooking.. what if he can't cook.. who's going to cook? I cook because I have to.. but to be the only one doing it.. no way. I want someone who is independant.. not a 'baby' ..
Lizzie60 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 oh so she likes married men to cook for her? No .. single men is not a dealbreaker... a MAN who can't cook .. is.. and no... the married men do NOT cook for me.. they come to eat me..
CLC2008 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 No .. single men is not a dealbreaker... a MAN who can't cook .. is.. and no... the married men do NOT cook for me.. they come to eat me.. How wonderful.
lilbelle Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 If I have no desire for a future with that man but rather a test drive... then no I could care less. If I see someone longer term than yes, it makes a huge difference. A man that can take care of himself (and possibly our children) is very important. Also, nothing is better than a home cooked meal, it's made with love and any man that can cook is on the top of my list. I would rather eat at his place than a 5 star restaurant any day.
InspiredbyYou Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 the married men do NOT cook for me.. they come to eat me.. I'm sorry but that was funny.
TheLoneSock Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 I can't cook that well, but I can grill a damn good steak, or any other meat. You ladies would love my meat
Pizzaman81 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 They say a man who is a good cook, is a great lover. He is very good with his hands and he pays attention to details!
threebyfate Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Basic essentials are necessary, whether on the stove or on the grill. It proves self-sufficiency.
citygal Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 It can be a plus. But certainly not a requirement.
sfsassy Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 how much does it bother you if a guy doesn't know how to cook or doesn't? is it that big of a deal to you? does it turn you off. just curious, because women ive dated seem to like men better who can cook or at least want to I can't physically cook, but for me it is a big turn on. However, if I wasnt disabled I wouldn't care as much. (Though an appreciation of food, is important to me. ) If I was the cook, would want him to clean dishes, lol.
Malenfant Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 men dont have to turn out gourmet cuisine to impress but some capability in the kitchen is preferable. i'm not a great cook, i can rustle a dinner together but nothing fancy. My H is a chef, so although he works unsociable hours, he does cook when he's at home at dinnertime and its always alot better than my food!!! i think food can also be the way to a woman's heart.
