Women: Male shirtless photos on dating sites

The Way I Am

Recommended Posts

Lost-n-confused
Look I have a decent looking body, and I work hard for it to look good. I photograph in what I wear day to day, I am not about to wear different clothes to prove something here. This is how I dress, I am not topless or in by bra and my pic shows nothing but form. My rules is, if I can step out of my house looking like that I can certainly post it here. So deal with it.

Back to the topic of shirtless men, my guy is in a relationship, the shirtless losers are still looking for love on the dating site. You do the math.

I work hard for my body too. I can walk out my house with no shirt on too. I do dislike it when people walk into my place of business with no shirt on but hey you can certainly do it. I just seems stupid to walk around shirtless.

On a side note someone said all us men have is our picture and title to grab a girls attention. I had the face shot up and got nothing. No one looked at my profile and no one responded.

Now I have the photo up and a new title and I'm seeing more activity in two days then last two months. You can't sell yourself in a profile either. I asked here and everyone told me to chop it down, make it simple and make yourself mysterious. Something is wrong here.

My new title is "If your worth it, Ill make you know it" Yea laugh it up. Its a challenge to the reader to find out if their worth it and what I would do to prove they are worth it.

On a dating website, no. But, I have posted pics of myself that to me, were flattering, it may have shown off my legs or something to that effect, back when I was on a dating website.

And TBF, you had a pic not too long ago on here in short shorts and knee high boots, which was VERY flattering as well.

Yes, there is a difference between a dating website and a social networking website, that I agree with. But, it is still an attractive photo nonetheless...

So why are you coming down on pictures of women on LS?

A guy can be attractive with his shirt on. It's not needed to show off that he's in shape, or thin, or whatever.

FYI, my former picture isn't what I use for a primary picture... The last two I posted .. this one and the previous clear shot of my face are the first two. I have candid pictures.

But it doesn't matter on here. TBF had one of her faced blurred, why, because it's LS and she's not looking to date on here, she chooses not to flash her face on here. You can't compare our avs to what we'd use on a dating site. You can't compare the two. It's not being hypocritical because they aren't the same.

Sorry TBF.. just using you as an example.

TBF isn't exactly the subject or example in this case.

I'm referring to the difference between your original profile pic and IBY's which dudet is trying to make issue with.

Where as yours is essentially a waist up shot.. hers is basically belly button to neck which only brings 1 feature front and center. I assure you.. its not her chin and pearly white teeth.

Remember ladies.. we are guys.. if you have 2 pictures.. 1 from the waist up and 1 of the upper torso area only.. which do you honestly think our male minds will be drawn to first?

IBY. Just out of curiosity.. why did you chose a pic that essentially shows just your breasts? Why not some random pic? What is it about that pic that you believe says anything other then "Here are my tits.. front and center.. nothing else to look at"

Not saying you aren't welcome to do whatever you want.. just trying to understand why you don't consider that advertising..

Can you understand how a guy will see that? We look and its "Hey tits.. excellent".. cause thats pretty much all that pic says.

this is a good of example of why a lot of men have shirtless pics up. i think it says they are screaming for attention and they know posing half naked will allow them to gain attention. kind of seems like they are insecure too, and feel as if they don't have much else to offer to grab others interest

It was a side view from head to toe, where I wore a t-shirt, skirt and knee high boots. No nudity or baring of much skin beyond the bottom of my skirt and the top of the boots.

As I stated, I don't deny my own vanity. There's just a line in the sand for what's tasteful, in the public domain.

But it's not a first impression look. So if you dislike it when people walk into your place of business without a shirt, why would you make that the first image a girl sees of you?

On a side note someone said all us men have is our picture and title to grab a girls attention. I had the face shot up and got nothing. No one looked at my profile and no one responded.

Maybe your title sucked. Maybe those girls didn't find your face attractive. Maybe they thought the first picture was boring. Just because it's a clear face shot doesn't mean you can't be creative with it.

Why do you bother asking for advice if you are just going to condemn it? But hey, go for the girls who only want your body and not you. Have fun ;)

OMG are you serious? With a shirtless picture?:confused::confused:

The flip side to this is for every 1 woman on the dating sites.. there are probably about 120+ men.. so something must be done to stand out among the other guys.. If a shirtless pic does the job of getting the attention of a lady.. then all good.

I think the quandary is.. its a turnoff when the guy messages the girl first.. but a turn on when the girl finds it first.. but then wtf do i know... :o

It depends he guy is looking for. Does he want a relationship or someone to sleep with? I'm guessing going shirtless might increase responses from immature women and decrease responses from woman looking for serious relationships.

We are still at a disadvantage due to numbers on dating sites, but the numbers are closer to 60-40 or even 55-45 (males to females). I'm probably an average looking guy and even I can find some dates. I woulndn't even consider going shirtless for quite a number of reasons.

It doesn't it says, here is by sexy long neck and my defined decollete and my nice long dark hair and perfect straight white teeth and small waist. Sorry you wish to focus only on my breasts. Your problem, not mine. ;)

I am not advertising anything because I am not looking for anything, in particular I am not on a dating site looking for a long term relationship. I am already in a long term relationship, and quite frankly it's my ass and I'll do with it what I want. I owe you nothing. :)

Just because you are not looking dosen't mean posting a boobs only shot can't be construed as advertising to the rest of us. The avatar/profile pic is your chosen visible representation of yourself online. Your chosen representation is a zero-ed in boob shot.

Yes I know its your ass.. can do what you want with it.. owe me nothing.. :bunny:

I care not anyways... just want to understand your train of thought.

That's not what I meant by it.

I just saw a few contradictions is all.

And for what it's worth, the photo you had up before was fine, nothing wrong in that. Like I said in my original post, it's a yellow flag to me and nothing more, if I discounted every person for certain things, I would not have the experience under my belt, which I feel for the most part, I do.

But, I'm still learning, and will continue to for the rest of my life.

Looking good and taking care of yourself is one thing, but I think men being openly vain is lame. I don't associate with guys who have too much of a "look at me" attitude.

a bit hypocritical eh? like you got room to talk....look at your avatar, thats as bad as a guy being topless. just think if you have a pic like that on here..what WOULD you have on a dating site:laugh:

for the record you pic is not exactly a turn on

That's absurd. I'd message a woman dressed like that.

I'd NOT message a woman with a topless picture. It would be clear she's looking for something other than a serious relationship.

Yup I'm dead serious. Women want a guy who is confident. Whats more confident then a guy who's not afraid to take his shirt off in public (going to catch flak for that). Every hot girl in the gym is always following around some muscular guy. Lets face it, online dating is people who want sex. I want a relationship and sex. You know I'm a virgin and trying to give my V-card up. If I can get a small relationship with a good looking girl and get laid and it falls apart o well that's dating.

Check out my profile. Tell me what photo you think should be my primary photo?

Eh.. what can I say.. I'm obviously not an ass man... ;)

Yea at least the pic will lead them in. Then see that I'm more then just a shirtless guy and I'm ambition, goals oriented, have hobbies and have interests.

Any of the other ones. I like the one with the plane. It shows what your interested in. And I'd take out the half nude.
