does anybody know how to get rid of a chalazion on an eye?

Hi! I am not sure what you could do for that, but I am sure that if you typed "chalazion" in a search engine, you could find some useful information. :)

GO TO YOUR FAMILY DOCTOR!!!!!! He can diagnose it and treat it.,..... DO NOT look for advice on a FORUM.... if indeed you have a chalazion...... HE'll know what to do..... Good luck!!!! and keep us posted please.... (its threads like this that people ask for serious medical questions that should ALWAYS be adressed with please seek medical attention) my opinion. LOL

Whoa, hold the boat folks. If I was constipated, I would hope that posters would offer advice on relief and not simply tell me to call the doctor.

Chalazion is a stye. If you know that you have a stye, and it has not inflamed badly, use moist heat compresses and lightly massage the area. There are also over-the-counter ointments. If you have had it for some time, it's badly inflamed or persists, call your doctor.

LOL..... according to google.... a chalazion is a TUMOR!!!!!!!!!! hence why i say go see doctor!!! if a chalazion is a stye... then i say whoops my bad... but heres what i do to get rid of a stye..... i take a Gold band (ring) and just gently run it along my eyelid grazing the styre. sorry if i responded so harshly... however like i said google started as saying it was a tumor.

No worries Lost, a stye is technically a tumor. But in this case (at least with regard to my post) it's presumeably a common stye. Just good to know more details if someone asks for advice on "herpes" when they have a fever blister.

If you were constipated, but neglected to mention that you were frequently constipated and that that alternated with periods of diarrhea, you may well have colon cancer and us telling you to take a laxative will not help.

The fact remains, WiseOld, that ANY attempt to diagnose or treat someone one cannot see over a forum such as this may expose that person to risk. The person says it's a chalazion - how do they know? If they've had one before, they would know the treatment - so this person may have diagnosed him/herself - and may be wrong.

Because we cannot guarantee that the individual has identified the conditon accurately or given us ALL salient information, it is unwise indeed for us to offer medical advice.

Generally Moimeme, I agree with your assertion. And you'll note my post said:

If you know that you have a stye, and it has not inflamed badly . . .

If Lili's post had said "does anyone know how to get rid of a bump on my eye" any medical suggestions would be invalid. However, based on her post, one could leap to the conclusion that she had a good eyedia  of what she had.

one could leap to the conclusion

Ah, yes. One of the most popular exercises there is. Quite often with disastrous results!

Well Lilly....hopefully by the time you finish reading through this 'thread'.....your eye will be better...if not healed.
