Drummer Boy just sent me an email about a band he wants to see Friday night. He forwarded the show details from one of his friends, which means he's cool introducing me to them. I'm quite excited about this, obviously!

Sooo...here's my question for you fellas. If you were taking a girl you liked to see a band and meet your friends, what would you like for her to wear? I know this is a bit of a silly question, but given that someone posted about his dates wearing ugly jeans and hoodies, I want to make sure I dress up a bit. It's been 2.5 years now since I've worn much other than dance/yoga clothes, and I want to look sexy! Thought I'd go on a little shopping trip tomorrow.

Keep in mind that I'm not a mainstream gal who's going to wear pointy-toed high-heeled shoes. And no hookerwear, either. ;)

Would depend on the type of music.

This has my vote.. then again I'm a sucker for the lil black cocktail dress.

But considering he is an xtian playing mideast music.. I'd say dress casual... not dress casually.. but casual but dressy.

I'm going to a fun rock show on Saturday. I will wear one of the following:

  • little black dress and mid-calf boots with some buckles, bit of a rocker touch
  • figure-hugging jeans and cute, sexy top (deconstructed band shirts are fun, too)

And of course, sexy hair with some body and texture, flowing long and free.

She could wear a bin bag for all I care.

Skirts and no panties..

I like what Ruby slippers posted...

I would also say that age appropriate is something I always liked..

I never cared for someone dressing too old or too young for themselves..

Oh yeah, easy access.

definitely something that definitely enhances your grace and femininity – maybe get an idea from some of your belly-dance outfits? Flowing but feminine, with a hint of sexy (bared midrift, fitted top, etc).

you'd definitely stand out from the rest of the crowd by not going with the old standby of slouchy jeans/shirt. Unless you've got some fitted jeans and T's, then think sexy cowgirl, esp. if you've got the boots!

The September (I think) issue of Elle had an article about what guys like girls to wear in various date scenarios. You could always do a Google search for similar kinds of articles to get some ideas.

Personally, I think you can never go wrong with casual dresses.

I like the little black dress idea. What do you think of black dress/colorful stripey tights/black boots/hand-knitted scarf?

Oh, and I'll NEVER take the streak out of my hair! I love how it looks with the stitches in my face! :D

Being a musician and artsy-fartsy person, I have tended to dress a bit capriciously in the past, and I have at least a dozen pairs of stripey, knee-high socks in my wardrobe.

I love this kind of thing, and it always grabs my appreciative attention, but I have found that most guys are put off by style that departs from the mainstream. Other artists and hipsters are an exception. But most guys are drawn to women who draw the attention of the majority. Most people want what everybody else wants, sad as that is. :o

So, you can be your funky self, dress how you want, and reduce your mainstream "hot" factor, or you can play to the masses for maximum effect, by toning down the "artsy" factor of things like stripey tights. The idealist in me would like to believe that expressing my personal style will naturally attract the attention of a guy who's right for me, but I'm just not sure anymore. I think I used to give men way too much credit.

It makes me kind of sad to give this advice, but the world will never quite be the dream world I wish it was. :p

Ruby, I've found that a lot of guys have a fetish for stripey tights! My ex actually bought me several pairs because he thought they were the hottest thing ever. I've heard others agree. Guys? Stripey tights?

Point taken. After I broke up with my ex last year, I browsed the CL personals for the first time ever. I never met up with anyone from there, but I did respond to one guy's request for pics of girls in stripey socks/tights. I had taken a couple of PG-13 pics of me in stripey socks, and I sent them to him for fun. :D

The guy went ballistic, and he still occasionally contacts me asking for more pics or a meeting. :lmao:

Stick with your off-beat style! It's a part of what attracted him to you in the first place.

I just bought a pair of over the knee gray suede boots that I wore with tights and a long off the shoulder belted shirt and funky scarf. I also like to play up the rocker chic look at the moment.

There is a VJ on Much Music that has awesome style- I like to copy those looks sometimes.

Whatever you choose- make sure to play up your best feature. That's the key to dressing sexy-chic - dabble in the trends that suit you and accentuate your best parts.

I do have some serious T&A if I do say so myself. ;)

Might I suggest you wear something YOU think you look good in and feel comfortable in and that flatters your figure?

Posted

Either the black dress, which shows the cleavage and legs, OR the stripey tights, not both.

Posted

I would wear a slightly upgraded version of whatever you wore when he first made the moves on you.
