So what would yous do or can u share a similar experience
New Again Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 If you want to travel, you would certainly go oversees if you joined the Air Force, and you would be better set up to get a degree/go to school/etc. than if you just took off traveling. Just something to think about. As far as option 1 - if you're interested in film school, I would encourage you to try to get a part time or contract job in communications as one of your jobs - that way you'll get relevant experience while working toward your degree goals. You should be networking like crazy, because communications jobs can be difficult to come by unless you know someone. For many communications jobs you don't need a degree, so if that's what's been stopping you for applying...just go for it
moshe Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Jaydumped, When people have a good handle on what they want, then they go for it and deal with whatever issues come up. The impression I get from your note is that you want to take advantage of your present situation to develop yourself. If you can think ahead and try to envision what you really want in life and really get a handle on that, you'll be amazed at how ideas and decisions as to what to do become so much clearer and easier. One way that I've found helpful for deciding what to do in life is to spend some time thinking about what you really enjoy. Assume that you are not limited in any way. You are not limited by education, finances, brains, nothing. Just write down everything that you enjoy doing. You'll need some quiet time when you know that you won't be disturbed. It's a fun and interesting exercise. Some of things you write will be trivial. That's fine. Others will be more profound. When you have the list, you'll be smarter about what you really want because the list is really the activities around which you want your life to revolve. One or more of those activities are what you want to spend most of your time doing. Don't be concerned as to whether you have the education or whatever else you may need to actually start living according to what you want to do. If you really want it badly, then you'll find that ideas and opportunities will come to you when you start acting in the direction of realizing what you want to do. Good luck!
