When will women realize that only Latin women can be curvy?

There seems to be a trend going around of overweight and obese women calling themselves curvy or voluptuous. It needs to stop, some of you women are abusing those two words. Salma Hayek is curvy, Rosanne Barr isn't. The only ones that I've seen able to pull off the look is Latin women, its just the truth. The rest of you women are either thin or fat.

I think they should do away with the body type choice on dating sites and require everyone to post clear face and body shots. If they don't then their profile won't be made live.

At that point you can't hide from it, and it'll either send the message to lose weight (this goes for both genders) or possibly find you love because there are many who aren't anti-obese.

I don't swing that way.

Yup, yup, only latin women can be curvy. And only asian women are feminine, thin and/or attractive. It all makes sense now.

Each new thread gives a new glimpse of just how ignorant you are.

The amusing thing is you can't know someones ethnicity from looking at them. I always get assumed to be latino, italian, often Cuban and even half black before. Guess what, I'm causcasian Canadian.

Your points are pointless.

One of the primary focuses of troll-dom is to agitate for negative emotional responses. The more fighting, the more feeling of power and control by trolls.

Latina women do lean towards more hourglass figures, as a whole.

"Latina" is a mixture of white and indigenous American admixture, and Native Americans are closer to Asians than any other racial group. So, your argument has no basis in reality.

Also, black women can be curvy and very beautiful, not fat.

So, yes: it's possible for women of all races to be curvy. However, a lot of obese women in denial describe themselves this way (or as BBWs) and those tend, in large numbers, to be white.

Troll he may be, but he does kind of have a point. Whether it's thin vs. curvy or hot vs. cute, people are ignoring the third option of "unrateble" otherwise known as fat or ugly or what not.

There are two points I agree with, in his opening post.

That the word curvy is often abused and that Latina women are generally more curvaceous than many other cultures. Being more curvaceous, doesn't mean that other culture women, aren't curvy. It's just degrees of the same thing.

And to argue the opposite side, some men find Latina women too heavy set, due to personal preference for smaller framed women. Some men find and prefer "obese" (obese as defined by health organizations) women curvaceous.

It's all subjective.

There's a natural distribution in terms of what people find attractive. About 0.5% of men will find heavy (BMI 30+) women attractive. Most men find women in the middle (BMI 19-21) to be ideal. The model-thin "cultural ideal" is much thinner than 80% of men prefer, while the average American is heavier.

The problem is that the American diet has shifted the distribution of what women actually look like to the right of what men prefer, which doesn't change much. So you have (making this number up) about 20% of women in the "obese" category that only 0.25-0.5% of men prefer.

It may be the African/Black admixture that makes many Latin women curvy. Otherwise you're just looking at European and Native American ancestry, neither of which is particularly curvy. Southern Europeans tend to be slightly curvier, though.

Oh lord. I'm not overweight or Latin, but I find this post tacky and a bit rude. Can you say better choice of wording? I have to say your screen name fits you. You seem to be a real Pig and your post makes me want to vomit. :)

actually, this post brings up an interesting point, which 3BF acknowledges:

for the most part, I think Hispanic and Black women take pride in their curves ... abundant chichés y nalgas are a *good* thing in our book, because to us, that's what make us appear feminine, not fat.

our Anglo sisters are obsessed with thinness to the point of where the ideal is to look like E.T. the Extra Terrestrial: Big old cabeza, skeletal bones sticking out, rounded out with a muffin top. Why society deems this attractive, I don't know; frankly, I think it looks unhealthy. Women were designed to have more body fat than men; the key is to keeping those curve-makers within a healthy range.

attititude is everything; teeny bopper girls trying to look like the stars they see on the screen and in magazines are really pitiful, because they really don't take pride in their natural attributes, but have to conform to pitiful standards.

just my two cents ...

Spin it any way you want, the guy is a racist, dirt bag. Had he said some women say they're curvacious and aren't I'd agree. However he specifically targeted hispanics and whites. Idiot probably doesn't even realize 99% of people are in fact multi-ethnic.

Rather ironic that you accuse somebody of ignorance when you don't even know what the word 'Caucasian' means. Italians are Caucasian, as are some Cubans and other Latinos.

Sorry, but you are full of sh*t. Thin women do not have bones sticking out (women like hat are known as 'anorexic' and it is NOT a beauty ideal for anyone). And how can you possibly have a 'muffin top' when you're that skinny. You are not even making any sense - a muffin top is what fat women have.

I find it funny when obese women refer to their normal counterparts as 'bag of bones', 'skeletal', etc. Curves are a good thing only when it comes to exactly two parts of the female body. If you have curves in places other than your T&A, you're fat, not curvy.

thank you, you've just proven my point. People buy into a certain body image made popular by celebrities and refuse to think that anything else is attractive. Nicole Richie and Tori Spelling can be considered bags of bone, IMO, when you can see their ribs and shoulder blades sticking out from under their skin, and their heads are about 10 sizes too big for the stick-frame they've got.

young girls look to women like these and mimic their looks. Subsequently, we've got a generation of tarted up little E.T.-chicks trying to pass as sexy.

Sophia Loren is sexy; Ann-Margaret is sexy; Salma Hayak and Sara Evans are sexy.

Umm, have you ever traveled outside of North America?? If you go to Europe or Asia, you will see that 90% of women there have the same 'bag of bones' physiques that American celebrities and 'tarted up little E.T. chicks' do.

The problem is that the average American woman has become so obese that what was once considered normal has now become 'skinny'. It is most certainly NOT normal for a woman to have so much fatty tissue that her ribs and shoulder blades are no longer visible.

So you're on a personal crusade to shake all the fatties of America out of their self-deluded stupor? I don't blame you. It's astounding to me that overweight women would be walking around proud of their bodies. It makes me just want to punch a fattie in the face and steal her milkshake. This is a cause I can stand for.

so, to look good, one *must* be obnoxiously skinny? And look like porn stars? Get real – women come in all different shapes and sizes, and being heavier doesn't necessarily equate to being ugly. Hell, Delta Burke comes to mind, and she's incredibly gorgeous.

you're doing a fantastic job promoting body dysmorphic disorder, dude.

gee, Shadow – what makes you think I even drink milkshakes? However, if I did, and you were in my town, I'd offer it to you because that's what hospitable Southern women do. Then I'd take you behind the barn and work you over for threatening to punch me in the face, because that's what a mamacita would do when treated with disrespect :rolleyes:

It's astounding to me as well. How can someone take pride in being repulsive? I don't agree that violence against fat people is the answer, though taking away their milkshakes is not such a bad idea. Canceling their health coverage might also work as an incentive to put down that Triple Baconator with extra mayo and drag their 'curvy' asses to the gym.
