floods88 Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 has anybody else experienced some extreme weight loss due to their current situation? i have lost over a stone (about 16 pounds) in less than a month. its a bit worrying, but at the same time its one thing that makes me feel a bit good! at least ive lost the weight i gained from being in the comfort of a relationship.
McGrupp Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 ive lost 30+ lbs and not even going to the gym that much. blame it on my constant NC breaking. went from 175 to about 142. kinda scary. im 5'6 i had to buy new clothes
cdt76 Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 It's normal. I lost 21 lbs in 2 months. Couldn't sleep nor eat. Had to start a round of medication to get sleep and eating back into check.
Author floods88 Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 so skinniness is a common side effect of heartbreak it seems. i havent got the money to buy new clothes so now im busting the "baggy" look. i havent been to the gym at all. mine is from not being able to eat.
McGrupp Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 im wearing clothes i havent worn since high school. my cousin said im down to "one chin instead of 3"
sean1970 Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 When I saw the ex, 2 months after the breakup, she must have said, "I cant believe how different you look". Gym everyday, new clothes, tan, teeth whitened... She could not keep her hands off me... Guess it was not enough...
Template Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 It's normal actually. There was an article in some magazine I read a while back (can't mention the magazine, lest I be warned for advertising a product), that basically states the bio-chemical processes we go through during our emotional roller coaster we call love. I know some chemical is released as we feel grief during a breakup. This same chemical directly affects the heart, and this is what we feel, we suffer from a "broken heart", or and empty heart. Too much for too long, can also cause real physiological damage. This same chemical also suppresses appetite, which is why some of us lose weight. I myself lost a lot of weight (muscle mass), but gained it all back (fat), because of lack of motivation to get to the gym. So I now weigh the same as before, but my bodyfat % is higher. Oh wells... it happens.

red_cloud Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I'm 5'4 and already weight 109 lbs. I haven't had more than an apple, a piece of bread and a handful of rice and a few pieces of chicken (both of which I had to force myself to eat) daily for the past half week, so I wonder how much I weigh now. On top of that, I exercise almost daily.. Eating makes me feel not better.. I just drink warm tea and my hunger goes away. I really hope I don't develop an eating disorder due to this.. but thinking about food makes me feel like throwing up right now.
nobmagnet Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 hee hee hee hee what a star you are!!!!! Thanks I really are laughing out loud and my kids think ive gone mad! ta xx

Eating makes me puke as my tummy is in knotts all the time. Food is an issue with me now but I try to eat anything I fancy like choclit or pastry or maybe a bag of crisps. I supliment it with lits of milky tea and vitimins. Its hard when you feel poo to eat. bug hugs
red_cloud Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Thanks. I'm sorry you're having issues with food too. I know that I should take better care of myself, but I honestly don't want to..
deadboy666 Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 during the first week i lost about 10-12 pounds. turned it into something positive and now run at least 5 times a week and go to the gym for lifting 3. have lost 30 since the breakup (2 months)
USMCHokie Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I had trouble eating for about 3 weeks after the breakup...took a few bites each meal and that was all I could handle...combine that with lying around all day in bed and I'm surprised I didn't shrivel up...luckily I bounced back after that...gained about 3 lbs since the breakup...and my boobies are ever so slightly bigger...
GrayClouds Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 .and my boobies are ever so slightly bigger... If mine were bigger I would never leave the house!
trueblue72ny Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 i remember loosing like 15 lbs when things went down last year. eventually starvation over took and I had to eat. i think ive gained it all back and then some. lmao.
Bulldozed Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I'm officially down 36# since September 1st. My diet took a massive blow, not appetite to speak of...it's gotten better, though i'm working out a lot now. If you're struggling with a loss of appetite, definitely take supplements and drink ensure, carnation instant breakfast, whatever. They're fortified with everything you need.
