I saw in another post that someone told them to get their password without them knowing.

Please don't flame me but I want to do this. I posted awhile back about my husband posting on craigslist for sex and I want to see if he is still doing it. He gave me the password to the email he was using at the time, but I know he has at least one more. I see on the computer where he goes to craigslist and the things are highlighted, but when I as him about it he gets really angry and tells me I am being stupid.

I want so badly to get a keylogger, but I have no credit cards, bank cards, etc that he doesn't have access to.

What can I do?

That's an easy one :)

Search on Google for "open source keylogger" and "freeware keylogger".

If you still have trouble let me know...

How do you know which ones are safe to download?

I downloaded it free off the net. Most offer a 2 week trial. The problem with some is your antivirus will catch it and put it into quarantine.

I forgot which one I got but I just googled "free keylogger"

That sounds interesting. I would try that in a heartbeat, but I am afraid that my H might notice that something has been installed. He is way smarter than me, as far as computers are concerned. And this is the main reason why I haven't installed a keylogger yet.

And how do they work anyway? You install them and then....??? Where is all the information stored and how can it be retrieved, especially without anybody else noticing?

Thanks in advance for some additional info. Sorry for hijacking...

Minnie, that is what happened when I tried to install a free trial. I can't find it. Actually I have found it and it says that I haven't completed installiation, but I did, so I don't know.

Two things:

1. If he's getting angry about transparency, IMO, passwords will do you no good unless you live in a state where you can sue for a fault divorce and have children.

2. Get your own bank account and credit card. No reason why you shouldn't have that. :)

See, this tells me that you don't need passwords or a keylogger. Your H is an ass for calling you stupid, and he is still trolling craigslist. Isn't that enough knowledge? Just because you don't have the details doesn't mean you don't already know that he's still doing it.

2. Get your own bank account and credit card.

Totally agree. If you have direct deposit at work, switch it to your new account. Meet with a divorce lawyer!

Buy a prepaid card(or one of this visa gift cards) with cash.

You can get hardware keyloggers as well as software ones. Basically you plug the device in the back of the computer and it records keystrokes for you to review later.

This one for example: http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/security/c49f/

I believe there's also a product called Key Katcher, you can buy them on Amazon etc, and you might be able to buy them at a store somewhere, I dunno.

If you really want one, could you not get a friend to buy it and give them the cash? Or use an Amazon voucher, or use PayPal or something? I think the hardware ones are less likely to be detected than the software ones.
