Okay, I mentioned in an earlier thread about how I fell at work on Monday and banged up my knee pretty bad. Right below my knee down into my lower leg is all bruised and is a pretty nasty color. I am still having a very extreme burning pain, but it comes and goes and it mostly occurs when I hit it on something. I'm getting a bit scared now because I talked with my mother today and she was like the burning pain I'm feeling is a sign of a blood clot. She was all like it could be really serious and even lead to death. Is this true? Like how often does this kind of thing occur? I don't really have any health insurance yet since I have been out of a job for awhile now so I was trying to hold off as long as possible to see if it would get better on it's own. I'm still hoping it will heal by itself and that it's nothing major like my mother suggested.

A friend of our family was young, healthy weight, active and dead from a blood clot in her leg. I'm not saying that is what you have, but they can be extremely serious and it is nothing to mess around with. I suggest having a medical professional rule out wether it is a blood clot or not. I understand health insurance squabbles are tough, but it isn't worth your life in the event it is something like this.

I agree with the above.

I assume you are in the USA? Under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), I understand that if you show up at an emergency room they have to investigate you and treat you irrespective of your ability to pay.
