foreal Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Men, how do you feel about the big "V"? If you don't want more children, is a V something you'd consider? Why or why not? And if any of you have one, are you happy you did it? Any regrets?
JamesM Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Men, how do you feel about the big "V"? Nervous before I had it done, because I had no clue what would happen. If you don't want more children, is a V something you'd consider? Yes, I did, and had it done. Why or why not? Because it was me or the wife. A vasectomy is much easier and less risky than a hysterectomy. And if any of you have one, are you happy you did it? Any regrets? Yes No
ADF Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 If I had the money (or decent insurance), I'd get a vasectomy tomorrow. I have no kids and don't want any. Vasectomies are nearly foolproof and much less invasive than female surgical options.
Author foreal Posted November 21, 2009 Author Posted November 21, 2009 Thanks James...I hope things are better with the wife? If my H had a V I'd have sex with him every day!!
Author foreal Posted November 21, 2009 Author Posted November 21, 2009 Why are so many men afraid to get it done?? For those who had it done, does 'it' still feel the same? In other words, can you tell any before and after differences??? Same power? same feel? etc???
TheLoneSock Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Why are so many men afraid to get it done?? Because it's permanent. Sure, it's reversible - but the idea behind it is a permanent form of birth control. It seems convenient, but it's still scary.
Author foreal Posted November 21, 2009 Author Posted November 21, 2009 but if you are in your 40s, already have a kid, want no more..then?? why is it still scary? I'd like to hear from married men, in their 40s+....have you had it done? are you happy you did??

Author foreal Posted November 21, 2009 Author Posted November 21, 2009 Have to be married? nope! just want to hear from men who had it done....and if they are happy or not with the decision..esp interested if it has affected your performance?
Author foreal Posted November 21, 2009 Author Posted November 21, 2009 No age is too old to fear someone taking a scalpel to your nutsack. True:laugh:
TheLoneSock Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 nope! just want to hear from men who had it done....and if they are happy or not with the decision..esp interested if it has affected your performance? Some cases have said yes, some have said no. There is bruising and scarring after the procedure, so that would probably effect it in a negative way temporarily. However, a vasectomy only prevents the sperm from leaving the penis, it does not stop the testes from producing testosterone. That is why MOST men will tell you that it has not effected their performance at all.

Toodamnpragmatic Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Thanks James...I hope things are better with the wife? If my H had a V I'd have sex with him every day!! Yea..... Sure..... Ask JamesM how that worked out..... As for the V had it..... Real simple, look up No Scapel Vasectomy..... That is the simplest, least invasive... I am sure I was running again in a day or two.... Almost painless and less then 20 minutes if I remember.....
TheLoneSock Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 are you cut? or just well versed in the V dept? No, no cut. I'm just a nerd for all things medical.

TheLoneSock Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 NSV!! great tip- Thanks! Just be aware of the substitute for no scalpel surgery lol. It's still freaky IMO.
ADF Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 No age is too old to fear someone taking a scalpel to your nutsack. Now I suspect THAT is the main reason guys get squeamish at the thought of getting vasectomies. I think it has less to do with its permanence, at least for most guys. Guys who want more kids don't even think about getting vasectomies.
JamesM Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Thanks James...I hope things are better with the wife? If my H had a V I'd have sex with him every day!! Oddly, my wife said that a vasectomy would help our sex life...which wasn't bad then. For awhile, it did. But it was not a long term solution. Why are so many men afraid to get it done?? For those who had it done, does 'it' still feel the same? In other words, can you tell any before and after differences??? Same power? same feel? etc??? The idea of being cut is scary, but nothing changed for me as far as feeling or interest in sex. I think I have the same power. I had very little pain and no noticeable scarring or bruising. Inside, there are two nodules where I was cut. Maybe that is too much info. Really, I cannot remember anything negative about it. Yea..... Sure..... Ask JamesM how that worked out..... As for the V had it..... Real simple, look up No Scapel Vasectomy..... That is the simplest, least invasive... I am sure I was running again in a day or two.... Almost painless and less then 20 minutes if I remember..... Thanks, TDP. I thought the same ting when I read foreal's comment. And yes, I had a NoScalpel Vasectomy I understand why men have a problem getting one, but having had it done, there really is nothing to fear. I had only a local anesthetic and could have watched the surgery. I did not. My wife did. I guess she wanted to make sure it really happened.
JamesM Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Oh, I forgot. I heard the detail of the surgery after it was over. The doc made two tiny holes and reached in to pinch my "tubes" shut. I couldn't hardly find them later when I looked for them.
giotto Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Had it done a few years ago... late 30s, after 4 kids... didn't want any more, not with any woman in the world... lol I had a scalpel one... was very interesting, especially in front of some attractive female nurses that were assisting... and, no, I didn't get a stiffy... that would have been too much even for me! Do I regret it? No, not for one second... Did it hurt? No... just a bit of discomfort after the operation for a couple of days... Did I get more sex? No, but the sex got more enjoyable, without having to worry about creating another little Giotto...
someotherguy Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I had a vasectomy a while back, the no-scalpel variety. I'm mid-thirties, two kids. I've got two tiny scars from where the holes were punched, and a couple small, 'lumpy', bits inside where the tubes were sutured. I had slight discomfort for a few days, maybe up to a week, I don't really remember, it wasn't that bad. I did remember getting right back "into the swing of things" the evening after my surgery, with a condom of course. Don't take any risks until your tests come back negative for sperm. My sex drive is at least as high as it was before, except no psychological "oops factor" weighing on me!
moni2626 Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 (edited) Not related to this thread. But heard a man move to 9ja to start setting up for his family, left his wife and kids in the UK to join him later. Decided to have V done before leaving UK. Few months arriving in 9ja, you know how those girls are, meet jadon guy and wanted to get him by all means. The guy had wt he called a one night stand and the girl told him fews days later, she's pregnant. This was not funny. His wife in UK heard about the story but cannot be bothered because, she knows her husband has done V before leaving UK.The 9ja girl went to the man's family and friends pledging and asking them to talk to jadon man to accept her pregnancy, only for the jardon guy to call family & friends meeting and make sure his wife was present to break the news of him having a V done before moving to 9ja. Come and see people opening their mouth. The whole story now changed to why did you do it. The jardon parents start blaming the UK wife, you are the cause of all these. Why did you let him have a V done, its all your fault because, you don't what someone else to get pregnant for your husband. You see our mentality. Wife get the blamed for her husband having a V done. Edited November 22, 2009 by moni2626
GorillaTheater Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I had a vasectomy after #4 was born. I dreaded it, but it turned out to be not such a big deal. In fact, I felt so good I helped move furniture during an office move shortly thereafter. THAT was a mistake. I was down for a week after that with icepacks in the easy chair. Around four years later, I had a reversal. Needless to say, it's alot easier to take things apart than to put them back together, and the pain was significantly worse. On the upside, we had four more kids before we called it good.
JamesM Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Okay, something about having four kids that sends a guy in for a vasectomy! I did remember getting right back "into the swing of things" the evening after my surgery, with a condom of course. Don't take any risks until your tests come back negative for sperm. I know a guy who had a vasectomy a number of years ago. Everything was clear supposedly. A year later...his wife is pregnant. Serious, and it is his. He brags how manly he is. His wife is not happy. Anyhow they have a child. A year or two later, it happens again. No kidding. His wife has a hysterectomy. That seems to have taken care of Mr. Virility. This is no joke. They now have two teenagers that they are over joyed with. Moral of the story is....well, kinda obvious. Even a vasectomy can be done wrong. Since it has been over five years ago for me, I think we are in the clear now.
Devil Inside Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I am planning on having one done within the next year or so. I agree with the Lone Sock and ADF that I have waited as long as I have because of the thought of getting cut. However, reading here and talking to several friends that have done it make me feel better.
