Cora Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Okay, so it was a bad Monday yesterday. On my lunch break at work I stepped in a damn hole crossing the street and fell flat on my face....well not really on my face. I caught myself thanks goodness! But my knees took the brunt of the fall, especially my right knee. It is all bruised and swollen. I can still walk and bend my knee, but now when I slightly try to bend or move it or even if I try to touch it it burns like it is on fire! It isn't the skin....it is underneath and around the knee joint. It is all puffy and warm. It also looks like I have some big knot right below my knee. I'm hoping it will go away on its own in a few days. I have never in my life had any knee injuries so I have no clue what this could be. Any advice? What can I do to relieve this burning pain? I have been putting some ice on it to help the swelling, but I have work in a few hours and the burning pain is the worst!
laRubiaBonita Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Sounds like you may has torn something... or at the very least strained a ligament. take some ibuprofen and RICE your knee... Rest your knee- try not to walk or put too much weight on it Ice it- keep the ice on it Compression- can you wrap your knee with an ace bandage? the pressure will keep the swelling down Elevate- keep it propped up- again, it will help keep doen the swelling. keep slowly bending the knee so it does not get stiff. i hope it gets better.... and i AM glad you got outta the cars way!

You know, when I've had burning pain.. I get the best relief alternating between ice and heat. Over the counter pain meds like IBUP.. should help with inflamation. And REST. Be sure to stay off the knee for a bit. Best wishes. Mea:)
freestyle Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Fresh (not frozen or canned) pineapple has an enzyme that acts as a natural anti-inflammatory. If you don't have a citrus allergy, adding that to your diet, along with taking Ibuprofen, or your anti-inflammatory of choice, can be helpful. when you go to bed tonight, wedge a couple of pillows underneath, it will help bring down the swelling also. Hope you heal quickly!
johan Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 It's too bad there isn't some kind of professional who could specialize in looking at your knee and figure out what's wrong. I guess my best advice would be to rub some dirt on it and then maybe see if you can get a leech to put on it.
