floods88 Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 through reading a lot of posts and threads on here, it seems like females are more likely to mess the dumpee about after a breakup with indecision and wanting to be "friends" etc. it also seems that guys think when a girl breaks up with them there is almost always someone else in the pipeline. it seems that guys just go cold and uncaring. i dont know which situation is worse has anybody had a completely different situation to this?
JolliX Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 That's exactly how it is with me. She dumped me, wanted to be friends, but I really feel like I was nothing more than a back burner guy for her as she waited for her previous ex to come back to her. So I fit exactly what you stated.

USMCHokie Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Also noticed that if the dumper is a female, she will be much less likely to come back to the dumpee than if the dumper is male...usually their mind is made up long before the breakup...it also seems easier for females to get back out there and get attention from guys that they missed from their relationship...so there's no need to come back to a broken relationship...
Author floods88 Posted November 14, 2009 Author Posted November 14, 2009 Also noticed that if the dumper is a female, she will be much less likely to come back to the dumpee than if the dumper is male...usually their mind is made up long before the breakup i agree with this. i've been the dumper before and my mind was made up about 3 months before i actually left, and i met the most recent ex a month later... but my explanation for doing that was that i never really loved him, and i never held a future with him in my mind. we just werent compatable . every female i've spoken to that has been through heartbreak has said to me... they always come running back, but by the time that happens, you wont want anything to do with him. maybe it all boils down to something innate and biological?
USMCHokie Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 You might be right...a lot of people say that women rely more on the emotional bond in a relationship than men...not sure how true or universal that theory is, but assuming it was true, it's tough to repair a broken emotional bond...so most women would find no need to return to an old relationship... But I go back to my point that newly single women would be much more likely to be showered with attention from men without much effort...while men have to put forth an effort to get the attention from women...and most men coping with a breakup just don't want to get themselves out there and start playing the game again right away... But these are all generalizations...so who knows...
teanoranges Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 I am a female. My ex is male. He broke it off for a final time and wanted to remain friends. I saw myself as more of a crutch for him and a way for him to feel less guilty. Out of all the times we had a slight break, I was always the one to initiate contact first. He did once in the beginning. His mind seems to be really made up now, that it is over and he will never love me again. Of course its me that gets the opposite end of the stick.

From my experience I would say both females and males have someone else waiting in the wings when suddenly they want to be "free".
