USMCHokie Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I have been a devout fan of this show ever since it came on the air a few years ago, and I realized that it's an amazing guide to life...not to mention hilarious...it deals with everything that the single adult could possibly deal with in relationships, careers, etc... Anyway, I was rewatching one of the season 4 episodes and there was this little speech given by the main character that really hit home in regards to coping while continuing to live your life, so I thought I'd share... ------------------------------------------------- "The great moments of your life won't necessarily be the things you do, but they'll also be the things that happen to you. Now I'm not saying you can't take action to affect the outcome of your life. You have to take action. You will. But never forget, that on any day, you can step out the front door, and your whole life can change forever. The universe has a plan, and that plan is always in motion. A butterfly flaps its wings, and it starts to rain. It's a scary thought, but it's also kind of wonderful. All these little parts of the machine, constantly working, making sure you end up exactly where you're supposed to be, exactly when you're supposed to be there. The right place, at the right time..." --------------------------------------------------- After a breakup, we all tend to look at the past and remain stagnant in our lives, constantly wondering what went wrong, trying to scheme new ways to get our exes back, just moping around, or analyzing how long into the future we need to do NC, etc....and we sort of forget to live our own lives...being excited about what new things, or people, today will bring into our lives... I think it's the attitude of living in the present that will get you through the rough stages of a breakup...with the knowledge and hope that each day brings you closer to that right place at the right time...that's the fun part of life, and by bringing yourself down and wallowing in self-pity, you miss out on that...
