Dark_of_the_Moon Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I am trying to change my thinking and be more positive. I think that I need some sort of goal or new task (distraction), something to do that will keep my hands and mind busy. Trouble is I cant really find anything. I have been searching the internet, lots of games and such, but that is not exactly what I mean, I need more of an indoor hobby maybe? I wish I knew what I was looking for. I say indoor, because of the time of year (going into winter) Normally I would be out in my garden or something....no gardening in the winter mud.
alphamale Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 maybe you can start a hydroponic indoor weed garden if its legal in your area
Ms. Joolie Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 You are looking for something indoor then? Does that mean something you can do at home, at work, or on the weekends? All of the above? Are you looking for something on the computer or not or both?
AliveAndKicking Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Since you like to garden (me too) what about making a nice terrarium? Dried flower arranging? A small hydroponic garden (it doesn't HAVE to be weed ya know!)? Candle-making? A huge 3-D puzzle? Take up a musical instrument? Maybe go to the hobby or craft store and look around and see what grabs ya? You could come over here and clean my house- that would definitely keep your hands busy and since I'd be talking your ear off you would not have time to think about anything except for trying to figure out a way to shut me up. Yeah I like that last one best. This thread has just ended- the answer has been found! You're welcome. Thank me later. When the house is spotless. Next!
Author Dark_of_the_Moon Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 Ms Joolie - I am looking for something to do at home, indoors in the evening to keep entertained or when it is too wet and cold to be outside. On the computer or not, either one. Alive - thank you for the ideas...I will check into some of those, the last idea, you probably don't want *chuckle*, I am a little Emo right now, I will keep it in mind though. *laugh*. Thanks!
Ms. Joolie Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Okay, let's see: 1) Enroll in an online course, or take an evening class. You will meet people and keep your brain busy. 2) Take an evening exercise class. It's fun to be in a group of people, meet people, work your body and forget your worries. 3) Do some holiday baking for family or friends or an organization. This will bring good cheer, to you and others. (Is it too early to say "holiday?") 4) Start a blog about gardening. Hey, I'll read it. Or just start a blog. I think I detect a cultivated and enjoyable writing style from you. I back tracked and read your threads... =) 5) Pick up some CDs and learn a new language. Make a goal to visit your destination of choice to use your new language. 5) Pick up some DVDs about, well, anything. Learn of music, language, travel.... anything to stir your imagination, create new thoughts and keep your mind entertained. 6) Now is the time to start doing that something you've always wanted to do. Now is the time to create a new life, that life, that every day, that will make you happy. "Now" can be your hobby.

Author Dark_of_the_Moon Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 Thank you for the compliment, Ms Joolie, I do like writing! Reading and learning have always been important to me. You reminded me, I once wanted to be a writer....I should think about that again seriously, that would focus my mind. Oh and the minute I win the lottery I am heading to Scotland! Thank you Alphamale! Have to keep it legal *snicker*
Limbo21 Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I'd vote for gym training! Lifting weights & watching your body transform (till it hits that plateau which is always frustrating) is very rewarding, social and with the nutrition involved keeps you very busy. I used to compete, well since I spilt from my ex. Since then I've lost close to 30lbs but I'll get it back
Author Dark_of_the_Moon Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 Thanks Limbo, I might just do that. I have lost weight ... (this is not the diet plan I would recommend to anyone), but...since I am looking pretty good actually a little resculpting might be a nice thing. The holidays are coming...and since I love to bake and cook, I need to off set my talents.
onewillburn Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I would definitely suggest that you learn an instrument. It'll open up a whole new world of expression/friendships for you.
