Based on what you've written above, I think that you subconsciously are.

Unless you live in Sweden, the physical features you profess to like in Asian women (dark hair and eyes) can be also found in abundance in women of other races. So it makes me wonder why the specific racial preference as opposed to a general preference for dark-haired/eyed women unless some form of exoticism is going on?

I see your point, but I guess I would argue that I have come across many more dark-haired/straight-haired dark-eyed girls in the Asian race than I have in the white race :p I'm also a pretty tall dude, and I find that Asian females have a frame that I find more appealing. It's a rather specific combination that I actually find to be somewhat rarer in white women, but ubiquitous in Asians.

I would think that this is more of a preference unless you ONLY want to date Asian girls..

I, myself, prefer black guys...

Sure --> I have a cool, larger than life friend who could (and has) pick up any girl he wants, but he married a Colombian girl for the same reasons.

Actually they do. Western and Eastern cultures are highly different.

Whilst American and European cultures are different there are still similarities. Asian cultures are very different, unless you're talking about a third generation Asian girl that's totally dropped her roots.

As for the OP's question. No it's not wrong to go for a type. So many people have a type, tall, dark, blond, etc. Yet once it's a race issue people start thinking.......racism. Which ain't true.

People are too sensitive when it comes to race in our society.

You might have a point if you were only talking about Asians born in Asia.

I've had a lot of Asian friends because there were many Asians where I grew up and went to school. In my observation, there is no general difference in personality type between Asian American women and non-Asian American women. Any racial/cultural differences are dwarfed by individual personality differences.

Asian = thinner, better skin, more likely to have traditional family values. Smarter in relationships (picks her fights). If you treat her right, she will treat you right.

That's GENERALLY true.

Asians have more collagen in their skin which means they age better.

Most Asians are thinner

Generally Asians have more traditional family values because they get influenced a lot by their parents. They're told what to do from an early age, more so than Western cultures.

Not so sure about smarter in relationships...........

Generally Asian women treat their men well. But that's to do with the upbrining of listening to the husband, etc.

Now that has NOTHING to do with one's ethnicity but simply how they are raised. Talk about stereotyping...

I think Asian fetishizing may also be more problematic than other forms of racial fetishizing because it is often more loaded with stereotypes. This is purely anecdotal, but in my observation a white guy who prefers black women, for example, is more likely to prefer woman of color because of their physical features, not because he has some preconceived notion of how black women act.

There's a whole history behind this. It goes back to white men colonizing the Orient and spreading exoticized notions of Asian cultures. Exoticism is creepy, even if it's done in a "flattering" way, because it clumps groups of people and their customs together.

So... in your mind it's Ok for black men to only date white women, and yet its creepy for a white guy to only date asian women?

Also, educated guys in my area DO wind up with asian women at a higher percentage. Why? The answer is pretty simple if you actually think about it. It doesn't really have to do with race at all.

Hell, I've got nothing to hide (I'm not the most attractive guy in the world, but I don't think I'm ugly... I hope):

As for "doubling chances," I've got nothing against the notion :p But again, it's not like I'd reject someone for having not gone to an Ivy, either, haha.

Hence why I said third generation Asian. Any first or second generation Asian that moved to the US in the last 20-30 years is usually different, especially in relationships.

So now it's straight-haired and short as well? You don't find it a bit unlikely that you happen to prefer a specific combination of features that is almost exclusive to Asian women?

It doesn't make you wonder if their Asian-ness is attracting you first and influencing the specific combination you find attractive?

That would be my take.

As I wrote, I've known a bunch of second and third generation Asians, and that's simply false.

All the stereotyping going on in this thread is pretty much proving my point...

I knew it would only be a matter of time before they came out.

I can see why a lot of Asian women are wary of white guys with Asian fetishes.

Which part of first generation Asians overlap with third generation Asians?

As for second generation Asians. That's when things start to shift. But in relationships I find Asian girls are still better to date then white girls.

A person's exterior personality and how they interact in a relationship is slightly different. You'll need to date an Asian girl to experience that.

Well I mean, if you want me to be specific, my physical preferences are generally everything that comes with Asian females  -- if a white woman had very Asian-like features (however you wish to define such things), I'd find her attractive, too. Some Latina girls I also find attractive for the same reasons, for example.

I think in general, physical attractiveness plays a role in influencing what combinations we like on a personal level, but I would not say I like Asian women because of some kind of "exotic" stereotype. The only stereotype I may be applying here is one of intelligence, but it's not so much that I am basing this opinion on what others say, but from what I've experienced.

Cognac-you need to read some science books. If you don't want to date out of your race, then that is your decision but don't (incorrectly) drag science into it. Science (and by science I mean a large body of highly regarded, expertly conducted empirical studies) discredited the myth that one race=superior to mixed race a heck of a long time ago.

Which sterotypes?

Maybe you're just chosing not to acknowledge genuine differences?

Asians do have better skin.

As far as I know, it's actually healthier to mix.

Well, Shadowplay's side of the debate here is actually exactly what I wanted in this thread -- I genuinely can't come to a conclusion about whether or not my preference is "healthy" or some type of unhealthy "fetish" and it's good that she's bringing these points up.

That Asian-American women are more submissive in relationships for one, which is what you seemed ot be implying...

Again, there's nothing wrong with your preference.

No one is going to judge a guy that said "I like blonde girls" or "I like brunettes"

or a woman that said "I like tall men" or "I like buff men"

But bring race into it, and people go anal. The question is why? Again it's because we Americans have been so brainwashed not to be racists, that we try to be too politically correct.

I still think it's silly for you to dog on one guy for having an asian preference... while saying all other racial preferences are Ok.

Personally, I think the black guy chasing blonds is the creepiest of all given stereotypes and history.

Seriously... if that's what turns you on... go for it.

The only time this falls into the category of unhealthy is when you start dating someone for the race and not the person.

I never said that all other racial preferences didn't fall into the fetishizing trap, just some seem to more than others in our culture.
