I'm in a really good situation now, but the money and job fulfillment aren't as good as I would like. Boss is super cool, very accommodating, small company, family feel, counter-commute, but it's a long way from school. I go to night classes twice a week and that commute is a BITCH! My current company is growing slowly, and since I'm in on the ground floor, if I stay until it gets big I'm totally set! :D

I have a chance to get back into a job I had about a year ago, but the hours are longer, it's much bigger, more corporate and structured, BUT it's closer to school and the pay is better. It's a much harder commute but I could always move closer to that job AND school. Plus, that company is most likely going to explode soon.

But then I'd almost never get to see my gf. That's been so up and down anyway...

I'm just confused now. Feeling really guilty about the prospect of leaving my current job cuz my boss is so cool, and stressed about everything else I have going on.

What a great problem to have in this economy! :bunny: A lot of people can't find one job.

Maybe write a list of the pros and cons of each. Just from what you have written here - looks like you might be leaning towards staying with the smaller mom and pop company.

Regarding the guilt about leaving your job, this quote from Atlas Shrugged comes to mind:

"I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man nor ask another man to live for mine."

But that's because I'm 98 pages away from finishing the goddamn thing. :D

The other pros and cons are tough to weigh but I wouldn't feel guilty about leaving your current job. You could also ask for a pay raise. And that "if" about the current company making it big is a big "if" for any company.

Very good point TB. How funny that you quote Ayn Rand because I love her, lol. I've kinda decided that I'm gonna feel out the other two (or three) opportunities that I have looming and see what it's like. I am leaning toward staying where I am just because I'm getting such good experience here, and the boss is flexible.

It's also important to weigh out all the intangibles. Like having a boss that knows you and is freestanding with your school schedule. Or living closer to your GF. Make an exhaustive list and don't forget these non related factors. Good luck.
