BlueHarvest Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 So I noticed a trend of not only myself, but others on LS who were having some bad luck with online dating. So I thought I'd record some internet trends and compile them into a pdf along with my own comments. This is by no means a comprehensive analysis. But it is interesting to see which sites are the most popular and adjust your time accordingly. Also seeing the demographic of people on each site helps you adjust which site you spend more effort on. I compiled the pdf and uploaded it to my Windows SkyDrive. If you have issues downloading it please let me know, but it's open to the public so you should be able to download it. http://cid-1892c17b7b5782e3.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Shared%20Folder/dating%20profile%20analysis.pdf
CarrieT Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I'm on a Mac and I couldn't download it -- it asked me what application but several Microsoft/Adobe products did not seem to work...
CaliGuy Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Just cut and paste here. People are wary of downloading PDFs due to viruses/trojans, etc.
BookerT Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I clicked the link, can't get anything. I hope you didn't link a virus ridden link. I'm virus checking right now..............
Author BlueHarvest Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 Just cut and paste here. People are wary of downloading PDFs due to viruses/trojans, etc. Wasn't aware that loveshack had internal hosting. I'll try it.
CaliGuy Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Wasn't aware that loveshack had internal hosting. I'll try it. You misunderstand. Don't attach the PDF. Copy the text in the PDF and post it in this thread. You'll get much better responses that way.
Author BlueHarvest Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 Ah well, I can't. Because they are pictures with embedded text. It's just a compilation of screenshots I took of statics based on users visiting dating websites with associated graphs comparing popular dating sites.
Author BlueHarvest Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 (edited) I'm on a Mac and I couldn't download it -- it asked me what application but several Microsoft/Adobe products did not seem to work... Haha. Where are the Mac vs PC commercials with "And a Mac CANNOT do this..." I clicked the link, can't get anything. I hope you didn't link a virus ridden link. I'm virus checking right now.............. Yes because I spent the last year here posting to gain everyones trust so I can riddle them with computer viruses. /sarcasm I'm unsure why it wouldn't allow you to download it. I'll try logging out of my account and seeing if it's a user based download. Edit: Just tried it. I signed out and still downloaded it just fine. I guess this is just another PEBKAC error Edited October 26, 2009 by BlueHarvest
BCCA Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Kind of what I would expect, the free sites are going to have more visitors and people there for longer (since its free), but the paid ones seem to gear more to an older crowd.

Yea. The information isn't too surprising. But it's nice to see the statistics and the numbers versus the demographic. As it is, I've been spending alot of my time on Plentyoffish.com. After looking at these statistics, I'm going to start using OKcupid.com because theres a better ratio (if it's accurate) even though there are fewer people that visit there. It's probably going to be a wash (high numbers/low ratio on one site versus low numbers/high(er) ratio on another). But I figure it can't hurt. I've been on PoF.com for the last 7 months or so and in that time I've only met 3 girls ...all of whom panned out to nothing. So I figure it can't hurt. And I can always come back to POF and check to see if any new profiles were listed.

POF is truly full of of ex-cons, and dirtbags who are looking for a free ride.

Things didn't pan out long term but I've made some good friends. Edited October 26, 2009 by CaliGuy

POF is truly full of of ex-cons, and dirtbags who are looking for a free ride. OkCupid is also free, at least it was when I was on it. I met my boyfriend there over a year ago and have heard a decent amount of success stories. Neither of us are ex-cons or dirtbags either. I find it a little more structured than POF, and thought it was a fun site!

I ask because the people who have told me about success with OkCupid have all been Middle Eastern or Asian for whatever reasons.

Nope, I'm a 22-year-old white girl (caucasian, non-hispanic). :] My boyfriend is also caucasian.
