Wow sb! 10 lbs and 4 hours labour? You must be exhausted. The pain must have been excruciating. A friend of mine went through the same thing and she wished she had longer labour since it gives your body more time to become acclimitized to the pain.

You done good to be up and about so soon.

I have never heard this before. Interesting.

A friend of ours had easy labor and deliveries...and proceeded to have five more children.

Congratulations! The most important thing is that you have a healthy delivery and a healthy baby! Take it easy for a long while - you have a lot of physical changes taking place that are exhausting.

Babies are so lovely!

Ha ha ! I told SB ( and now I'll tell you, because it's PERTINANT !) that my experience was similiar !

I was SURE I was just having a stomach ache and actually sent my H to the store for prune juice !

A couple hours later ( DUH) i figured it out, when I saw the bloody " show"{mucas} on the TP.

Thankfully, I was able to hop in the car, but one of my reactions to extreme pain is puking, so by the time the contractions were really close, I was....not well.

I DID decide on the epidural and it didn't slow labor down a BIT. I kept progressing, just had no pain : cracked jokes, watched TV, napped.

When it was time to push, I was like " Now ? Just...push ??? And yup, that was all I had to do, and baby was out 5 minutes later !

Did I mention NO PAIN, and how big an epidural fan I am ???:laugh::laugh:

Anyways, SORRY SB, this is about YOU, and wondergirl !! I am so happy that things went well for you and the babe !

Seriously, all you can DO is stare at this new human and wonder how you can be so madly in love with somone you just met !!!

And everyone is right : enjoy it, it does go quickly, though all the stages are fun, and I'm betting theres a wonderbaby 2, somewhere out there on the horizon !!

HUGS !!

Congratulations Wonder Family.

I CANNOT believe I birthed a 10lb baby with no drugs. I am not a big person. I did need a few stitches.

That is AMAZING! Great job!!! :bunny:

As for having a BABY-its so surreal. She is the most beautiful thing I have ever laid eyes on, took a while for me to get my head around it, I think I am still in shock. I could watch her all day.

Congratulations!! Enjoy this wonderful time and take good care of yourself too!

Turns out the few days of "false" labour pains and contractions I had beforehand was probably the latent labour phase, which weren't so bad just like period cramps. They probably helped me acclimatise. My midwife was amazed, apparently I have a very high pain threshold which I wasn't aware of! I feel pretty good all things considered.

I had 4 hours active labour, which is the really painful part where your cervix dilates fully before its time to push. It WAS painful, and shorter labours are more intense, but to be honest, I am glad it was over so quickly, I wouldn't have wanted it to go on longer! I just got in the zone- I didn't even swear or anything, unbelievably. A friend had her little girl this morning, and she had over 12 hours of active labour- no thank you!

Anyway TBF- when your turn comes, I highly recommend hypnobirthing, I think thats what helped me get through it, lots of breathing and relaxing and going with the flow of what your body is doing rather than resisting it.

It is a bit airy fairy, and wouldn't normally have been my thing, but I tried it because an epidural wasn't an option (medically) for me, and other drugs can dope up your baby.

And its true what they say about forgetting about it so quickly- it was bad, but it was less time than a nasty day at work for me luckily, and I would definitely do it again. :)

You ARE a tough one, sb, without drugs AND no cursing or screaming. Well done!

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into it.

How's she doing?

Well, touch wood, but we have a dream baby so far. Feeding well, sleeping well, settling well. (I even have time for LS!)

All seems a bit too good to be true, we are waiting with baited breath for the Sh*t to hit the fan.....hopefully it doesn't, but I am not silly enough to imagine that this will carry on forever!

I'll bet she's content as anything. Relax and enjoy your little one. I can't wait!! :bunny::love:

She is just adorable. Much more alert now, looking at everything and taking it all in.

She settles herself to sleep really well which is awesome at such an early stage.

I am besotted (in case you can't tell). I would be OK with sleep except I keep sneaking into her room to make sure she is still breathing. (I can hear it on the monitor but I still need to check)

SB, many, many congratulations to you and your hubby for the adorable little thing.

How's your fellah coping?

The reason I ask, is because I know sometimes dads tend to get sidelined, and sometimes they feel a bit 'redundant'....

So I hope he is feeling every bit a part of the fun as you are... I mean that with affection.

Well done, and all the very best to you all.
