Serious answer? Law of equal attraction. You attract them because you act the same way. Thus you attract such people.

Wooooow, delayed reaction much?

That is true in some cases, but not here, sorry.

he was just a total a-hole. Utterly. I would go into some of the things he said in the time since my last posting here, but they are horrid and suffice to say only an immature f**k would say them.

I myself am a rather kind and caring person, and would never act the way he did if I went out with someone. He was just completely immature, a bit of an arse, and I could care less about him. I've moved on anyway.

Been out with two people since then and they're both lovely. One is actually from before ( don't know if anyone remembers the married guy I went on a date with directly following my A with MM that was the focal point of my initial posts on this site), but he actually has since divorced his wife (showed me the papers and everything) so I thought it would be ok to start hanging out again. Slowly of course, but hey, he's single now.

Then there's another one who's fairly new, but so far sweet, intiating contacts regularly on his own, SINGLE (thank god!) and fits lots of other positive check boxes. He's new though, so major connection remains to be seen.

Either way, Im trying not to care too much about this dating stuff, sort of going with it on the off chance I meet someone cool, but trying not to make it a focal point of anything.

FYI- today is MM's birthday. Spent a few moments last week pondering my temptation to call/email/go there in person to say hello, and today I think I will not. Good on my end-- a couple months ago I think I'd have been showing up on his office doorstep to say hello. Not today though. maybe there's hope for me yet :-P

Is he still married?

Is he still married?

Who are you talking about?

If you mean my old MM, then yes, he's still married (I assume.) I have not seen him in going on 8 months already. I've been tempted, Ive spoken to him on the phone twice in these 8 months, but that's it and I've been rather proud of myself for not giving in to temptation and seeing him considering he works down the street from where I live....

If you mean the guy I went out on a date with following my Affair's ending, then essentially, no. He and his wife filed for legal separation a while ago, which is required in this state before divorce papers can go through, and they are in the process of finalizing the divorce officially. He doesn't live with her anymore, they haven't got any kids or other connections, they've split all their marital assets (not that they had many....they are both like, 23 and 25 years old), and he's working a new job in the city. So, since they're no longer together I started speaking to him again as he'd been hoping we could at least remain friends for now if nothing else. It's been purely platonic, no physical, no dates, just talking like friends and he's been respectful of that. I guess he must still quite like me. He has potential, so as soon as the divorce is final on paper I'll feel more relief and possibly consider him as more than a friend, but for now we're platonic.

And if you mean the third guy I've dated recently that I mentioned in my post (not the a-hole who is the subject of this thread, but a new guy entirely that I just met a month ago), he's never been married, totally single, but he's the newest one so I haven't got a good grasp on our connection yet. I know I like him enough to see him again and am attracted to him, and he fits all the "checklist" requirements, but one date at a time, right? :-)

This is not exactly what 'like attracts like' or 'law of attraction' means. What it really means is that she has a certain belief about herself and/or relationships that is attracting a certain kind of guy to her. That's where the 'equal' part comes in - her belief matches her experience. It's not based on how we act, it's based on what we believe.
