You'reasian Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 my friend wants to now if you can get charged or go to jail if you misrepresent yourself on a dating site-this being plentyoffish.com. meaning he says hes 6 feet tall when he is really 5 6 and also using a fake pic he stole from someone in England(who is better looking than he is). he will also agree to meet this girl for coffee-ofc she will think that its the guy in the pic, but in reality shes not. when she find out its not him -can he get charged or go to jail for misrep or fraud. hes wonderin. i don't think so, but just asking. when she shows up, he'll just say oh my friend didn't want to come, so i came instead or jsut say nothing meet up with the girl as if nothing did occur so is it legal or not . where can you find this out? if its legal or illegal. Yet another reason why I never use dating sites. Its better to meet people in a more natural way, face to face.

Awesome Username Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 (edited) On a side note. I just this minute got messaged by a guy who has this written on his profile. Just proves there are all sorts of weirdos on the internet. Again 'get over it'. I am looking for: I am looking for a descent, good looking woman. I love long hair, but short is ok too. Hair color is not important, but I would prefer a brunette, blond, black or redhead. As long as your hair isn't hunter green, hot pink or purple, I'm ok with it. There is one race, the human race, so ethnicity is not important. But I would prefer a white, black, Asian or Latin woman(any woman can apply). A Christian woman would be preferred. THOUGH, I may think that Asian women are some of the most Beautiful women on Earth, I am looking for a beautiful woman, and ANY ethnicity is OK! I am attracted to the exotic look. And this can be found in all women! Great personality, Believes her man can do anything(positive attitude),Likes classic cars, and loves music. I am not looking for a liar or a cheater and expect the same. I can't stand when people lie and cheat. Let me know what to expect, and I'm ok with that. If things change, just tell me. Also, if your married, we can only be friends and your husband has to know. "Hello, may I take your order?" "Uh...hello, You know, I think I'll have the Denver omelette. Yeah! That sounds....oh wait, That's a little too breakfasty. I mean, I'm good with breakfast and every "time of the day" food, but dinner food really is the best. Okay, I'll get the chicken wings. Well, any kind of chicken will do, honestly. I just love food, you know? Anything on the menu...except for crab, I'm allergic to seafood. But even then, I don't really break out too bad...As long as you cook it. You cook your food, right? If not, I can't eat here. Not really." Edited October 19, 2009 by Awesome Username
BobSacamento Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Longer than you I would imagine Sorry watching 50+ hours of Law and Order does not grant you a P/F on the bar. You lack any credibility.

I declined because I don't have an anonymous email address. Mine is my full name. So he responds and asks me my full name. When I tell him I don't want to give him my full name, he responds with a short and sweet "good luck with your search". LMFAO...he's the one that needs luck!
justforfun Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Sorry watching 50+ hours of Law and Order does not grant you a P/F on the bar. In your opinion.
BobSacamento Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 In your opinion. Actually it probably depends on the state. California is pretty much anything goes right about now.
justforfun Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Actually it probably depends on the state. California is pretty much anything goes right about now. I'm thinking of starting up a "Law and Lemonade" stand there. You can buy in for $20 down.
justforfun Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 I laughed myself to tears! OMG. That is too much. You'll love this one from a thread about why people are looking to the internet to meet people. I kid you not. You couldn't make this $h!t up! "Sometimes parameters are put on us by outside forces. For me, a strict work rule interfers in my ability to meet many potential matches. I work for a large Psychiatric Hospital that mandates that employees can not date any current or former Patients to our facility. It seems like all those who I have recently connected with, end uphaving been Patients to this Facility. Which negates them, and me from ever meeting."
Johnny M Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Sorry watching 50+ hours of Law and Order does not grant you a P/F on the bar. You lack any credibility. I don't watch law & order. Since you accuse me of lacking credibility, perhaps you could answer the same questions you addressed to others: where did you go to law school and how long have you been practicing law?

Why should I? I'm not the one pretending to be the expert.
Johnny M Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Why should I? I'm not the one pretending to be the expert. Yes you are. You stated that it was identity theft. Others disagreed with you. Then you got on your high horse and started demanding "proof of credibility" from everyone who didn't agree with you.
justforfun Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Can you too pack it in? With your bickering everyone will miss my brilliant thread hijack!

Then you got on your high horse and started demanding "proof of credibility" from everyone who didn't agree with you. High horse? I just asked a few simple questions. I think some people just got a little defensive.
Johnny M Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 High horse? I just asked a few simple questions. I think some people just got a little defensive. If I told you I went to Yale and had been practicing law for 15 years, would you accept that answer at face value? No? They why even ask such a stupid question? Surely you're not expecting anyone here to reveal their identity in order to prove something to you?

Johnny M Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 A simple "no" would of sufficed. But what if the answer is not "no"?
mortensorchid Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I don't think that's illegal. If it were fewer people would be doing it than they already are. People misrepresent themselves all the time in the online world, which is a shame, but I guess that's how a lot of people are. If you are lying about height and weight, that might be considered a "little white lie", but if you are using someone else's picture entirely, it's a fraud but it's not an illegal fraud. Anyone who does that is a loser. Too bad you had to find out, hopefully not the hard way.
