tomtom26 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Have any of you ever started dating someone you felt was somewhat out of your league, and with the fear of them breaking up with you or leaving you, decided to break things off first? I am somewhat in that situation now. I'm dating a girl who is attractive, smart, comes from a well-off family, is a different race than me, a bit younger, and I would never expect to be her type (looks wise). I have this feeling that it might not workout in the long term, but this probably me being afraid of the situation due to my insecurities. Has anyone felt this way before? Success/Failure stories?
phineas Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 When I was younger I was in a similiar situation. Hot, pretty, family owned almost half the buildings in the city & built almost all the other half. I couldn't understand what she saw in me. However, I didn't get the chance to let my insecurities get the better of me because her family had allready picked out her boyfriend. LOL! How old are you?

I'm pretty successful myself.....don't get me wrong, but I feel what you felt when you were younger. She's 23, half way through law school.
New Again Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I don't understand why you wouldn't just date her and see how it goes.
phineas Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I don't understand why you wouldn't just date her and see how it goes. I'm wondering also. I had no intentions of breaking up with the girl because I thought she'd dump me first. I was just insecure about the whole thing & still not believing she was digging me. I had her on a pedestal. I was maybe just turned 21. I don't do that anymore.
